The Republic of Latvia is a small country in northern Europe. It is often regarded as one of the most important countries to start of the Northern, and in a way, the Western European pop scene.
Where at first most of the Latvian music included folk, often set to poems (the so called 'dainas'), after the New Wave scene came up in Germany, Latvia decided it was time to have their own popular music.
