Noela Rukundo sat in a car outside her home in Melbourne, Australia, watching as the last few mourners filed out. They were leaving a funeral — her funeral.
Finally, she spotted the man she’d been waiting for. She stepped out of her car, and her husband put his hands on his head in horror.
“Is it my eyes?” she recalled him saying. “Is it a ghost?”
“Surprise! I’m still alive!” she replied.
Far from being elated, the man looked terrified. Five days earlier, he had ordered a team of hit men to kill Rukundo, his partner of 10 years. And they did — well, they told him they did. They even got him to pay an extra few thousand dollars for carrying out the crime.
Now here was his wife, standing before him. In an interview with the BBC on Thursday, Rukundo recalled how he touched her shoulder to find it unnervingly solid. He jumped. Then he started screaming.
B rated movies become reality.
If you want it done right, do it yourself.
Sounds like they're gonna need some serious couples therapy.

Sounds more like a quick arrest.
Given no Australian news outlets are reporting this I am highly sceptical.

Looking it up a lo of really shitty news outlets worldwide are talking about it.
Calling bullshit.
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
Wait, Sydney Morning Herald is talking about it. They're the only serious news outlet doing so.

BBC has a history of re-reporting stuff that turned out to be bullshit, though. They're not immune to jumping on bandwagons.

And what about The BBC, who are directly linked to in 2 of the 3 of the provided links by the OP? Or ABC?

but they're not re-reporting - they're the quoted source according to these articles. Edit: in fact it appears the woman spoke on a BBC podcast directly.
So she could had pulled off this if she wanted to.

Looks like some soap.
I've see the gif before, took me a while to find it because I thought it was from a mexican soap opera, which probably happened before in that genre.

Sounds like he is going to sue the hitmen.
Could the "Hitmen" get in trouble? I mean they didn't do anything illegal, just scammed a bunch of cash from a retard.

Conspiracy to commit murder.
Proceeds of crime [Federal]
Both of these are serious crimes.

Looks like fucking general hospital since it's on abc and the camera work is similar.

Would it be conspiracy to commit murder if they weren't actually planning on killing anyone?
They accepted money on the promise that they would kill someone, pretty sure that counts for conspiracy to commit murder.
I want to know if the hitmen never even tried in the first place and just extorted the guy for cash, or they talked it out with the wife so they could pull a fast one on his ass.
I guess theres no way to prove what they were intending
For all we know they were never going to kill anyone and just thought of scamming a sucker
then again maybe they were and figured "this guys an asshole ..lets just don't and say we did"
don't think we will ever know
Would it be conspiracy to commit murder if they weren't actually planning on killing anyone?
I'm pretty sure it would be conspiracy to NOT commit murder, which is a dick move when someone's paying you to do it.

According to the article they were just gonna extort him, especially since they gave her recordings and documents before leaving her
This all seems so arbitrarily stupid
Would it be conspiracy to commit murder if they weren't actually planning on killing anyone?
Their employer (the husband) was planning on killing her by hiring them - they are complicit, and the fact that he went ahead and hired them means that he had put things into motion with the intention of her death regardless of the outcome.
I don't think it would be too hard to argue.
Well obviously the husband would charged, but what about the hitmen?
Well obviously the husband would charged, but what about the hitmen?
Yes, because they were complicit with with the intention of the crime even if they personally had no intention of committing it.
By taking that money they essentially said "Sure, we'll kill your wife'.

They took the money but didn't do the deed and co-operated with the target instead.
Whereas someone else could have taken the money and actually finished the job.
So technically speaking the "hitmen" might very well have prevented murder.
Both arguments in this thread are pretty strong.
I'd hate to be the judge in this case
If the hitmen themselves become involved in the case it probably wouldn't be hard to link them to other murders, if they are actually hitmen, so they'll probably get jail time for that at least
