There is really no way to prove this though.

That's true, speculation on my part, although it is common to promote your campaign staff to parts of your administration. I don't know if what his ex says is true, obviously. It just hits close to home, as I've been part of a private school for most of my life that some people did not go to for similar reasons. Also, I think people sometimes overstate how much someone is willing to go through to discredit others. Making a domestic violence charge can be very self damaging in our society.
