Maximum PC has received four exclusive new screenshots from Left 4 Dead, showing off some of the new engine additions and characters. Two of them show off the new Louis model in action, one shows off the three Survivors besides Zoey (featuring Francis), and the fourth is pictured below with some great looking infected and some new screen effects: New Maximum PC L4D Screenshots In some of the Survivor screenshots it is raining and you are able to see rainbows around lights. Maximum PC also listed some details of the Left 4 Dead source engine: * The infected hoard in Left4Dead are realistically animated so they anticipate and lean into turns based on the curvature of their AI navigation paths. * The physics are simulated with a blending of traditional animation and ragdoll physics. In addition to location-specific damage, shoves and gunshots are physics interactions, based on the location of impact and what the infected hits afterward. * Even if zombies are brain dead, the AI driving them is smart. The infected will climb and path-find over objects, not just around them. They'll even break down walls and doors to get to you. * Filmic effects: Color correction allows the developers to maintain a specific palette while controlling saturation and visual elements based on their importance to the player and the scene. * Film grain is enhanced in dark areas, and contrast is ramped up to sharpen areas with high visual detail. Subtle reduction of brightness at the top and sides of the screen draws your attention toward the action and increases the tension. * Self-shadowed Normal Mapping locally alters surface orientation to cause detailed lighting effects. This feature incorporates local self-shadowing information to add greater surface richness. Surfaces will react to lighting from radiosity as well as dynamic lights in the scene, like your flashlight (which cast dynamic soft-shadows in the level). Thanks again to Maximum PC, who conducted one of the best L4D interviews recently and now has brought us these screenshots and details. AtomicGamer has posted their impressions of Left 4 Dead from E3 2008. As always, if you want to check out the new screenshots along with every other L4D screenshot released, go to our Left 4 Dead screenshot section.
Source http://www.left4dead411.com/news/2008/07/new-left-4-dead-screenshots/ So what do you guys think about the rainbow thing  Oh shi- wrong topic, Mods please move to Video games :(
Why is this in the news section? It MUST be done if they have time to add in rainbows. Seriously
Man that new trailer was bleak.
Rainbow flashlight's cool, but why the new player models? I liked the old ones, they looked rugged and prepared for battle. Fucking Valve merging with ol' Turtle Rock. I also don't like how the first person arms are so skinny, like CSS. I'd rather they fix every one of my problems if it makes L4D delayed even longer.
Someone better tell me those new shit skins aren't in the final.

Get used to it or prepare for a lifetime of dissapointment.
Leonidas?
Someone better tell me those new shit skins aren't in the final.
That's what custom skins are for :downs:
They fixed up Francis a bit it would appear he looks less homosexual now
I liked the old Biker and Veteran models better. The biker looks like he's from a hardcore biker-gang (now he just looks like a young biker), and the veteran is wearing his old combat gear (now he isn't). However, the other guy and the girl look better now.

JUST THINK, FOLKS! It's like Grand Theft Auto 4 with Eurphoria! But with thousands of zombies!
It's like Grand Theft Auto 4 with Eurphoria! But with thousands of zombies!
A lot less, thousands would lag the fuck out.Maybe like 20 on screen,no more I guess.
I like the dave chapelle clone :v:

I believe that you can choose your skin.
God damn it. I can't fucking wait for this any longer.:tizzy:
Seems like I might buy this game afterall
This looks so cool.
Nevermind
I can't wait for that. Looks so fun.
Can't wait for it as well, but I think this game will crash a lot for me, since this game could have higher requirements than Ep2.
Can't wait for it as well, but I think this game will crash a lot for me, since this game could have higher requirements than Ep2.
I'm sure if you can run TF2 you can run this.
VALVe is optimization-crazy. It will probably run on the same computers that can run EP2.
VALVe is optimization-crazy. It will probably run on the same computers that can run EP2.
I hope so. I can run TF2 on all high settings at around 40 FPS. Hopefully that will be enough to run this game on atleast medium.
I wonder... Will any of this end up being incorporated into garrysmod? AI Director? Spawnable zombies with the ragdoll and animation blending?
I wonder... Will any of this end up being incorporated into garrysmod? AI Director? Spawnable zombies with the ragdoll and animation blending?
Yes. Message to short.

This game looks awesome can't wait to play the coop mutil player.
To me the new models look much more detailed and sharp, the old models seemed very grainy and pixelated.
