The spear at 1:32 doesn't even hit anything

Say what you will about the AC franchise, but I have always loved seeing the various time periods in such detail and how they have fun with history. I've had a fascination with Egypt since a very young age so I'm beyond excited to see the time period come to life.
I'm curious how far they are going to go with myths and whatnot because of that giant snake at the trailer's end.
I like the idea of the game, however, I feel as if it's going to be as lacking in content as the predecessors have been, as a long-time fan of the series it really declined for me after they went "full pirate" in Black Flag. This is a large assumption, however at 1:15, it shows a battle in an arena. Could this mean multiplayer battles will take place in this arena? If so, that'll be fucking fantastic provided the incorporate it correctly, with a ranking system etc.

He's pulling the spear out of the guy on the right.
looks sick as shit
well the snake sure is something
I like it, but its still on the Unity/Syndicate engine all that annoying fog all over the place in the crowded places again, I can't wait for all the glitches :v:
if you asked me before today i would have told you with 100% confidence that a game called "assassins creed origins" already existed
Well they seemed to change the combat system to more of a lock-on and attack kind of system ala Zelda, but to compensate for finally changing the combat, now there's leveling and loot drops like equipping yourself with a legendary bow.
Which reminds me, there hasn't been a good game about ancient Egypt out in a while. Such an interesting setting for a game.
Why is there a giant snake in an assassins creed game?
Why is there a giant snake in an assassins creed game?
precisely
its about fuckin ancient aliens and this part of the lore is unexplored to an extent where it could totally be a real thing
Why is there a giant snake in an assassins creed game?
something something ancient artifacts you can't trust anything the history books say

Has there really been any games set in ancient Egypt though, that isn't a RTS or that old city builder game
they're taking huge liberties with the setting since there really isnt much written history about ancient egypt/that era in general, also yeah ancient aliens
Yeah, that's one thing I'm vaguely disappointed about this. They've always gone some real good miles for historical accuracy, and I'm going to assume they took liberties with AC1, but I know they tried fairly hard on every other game. This one? I don't know how well they can do it.

They've always taken the same amount of liberty, AC1 is probably one of the most faithful to history. Just ignore all the ancient artefact crap if you don't like it, is what I tell most people. The games are remarkably well documented.

In the spirit of talking about ancient civilizations that don't get featured in games often, Ubisoft owns Prince of Persia and we haven't seen one of those in a while. That weird anime one fucking sucked, had no challenge to it and lacked the cool narrative charm The Sands of Time had.
Prince of Persia is effectively dead, there's nothing in that series they can't just do with AC while making more money from it
Why is there a giant snake in an assassins creed game?
Historical accuracy
Much like giant enemy crabs in ancient Japanese history

The First Civ aren't actually aliens, but yeah if it's a world where [sp]humanity's creators were an ancient race with technology beyond our understanding[/sp] I don't see why big snakes shouldn't be a thing.
The eagle reminds me of this

Serious Sam.
This seems to be set around the time of the roman empire though
So expect Cleopatra, Caesar, and possibly Jesus

(Why can't we play as the Romans?)
The snake has to be a dream/vision sequence, I'm calling it now.

I saw a rumor from a while back (from the same sources that leaked screenshots and info that appear to be accurate, now) that there may be a second, female protagonist whom may be Roman.
Nice setting, but looking at this:

It kinda looks like every other Ass Creed game. And the animations and models lack a lot of polish imo.
