I don't see a reason to have a quota - as long as female applicants aren't ignored for being female.

I hope this doesn't mean that Jo Brand is going to be forcefully slapped into every panel show. Whenever I hear her name on QI I immediately turn to a different channel.

Might be good for giving publicity to some better female comedians, plenty of good examples over here. If they don't give a fuck or are just lazy though, they will just put Jo Brand on everything and it'll be a complete failure.

I'm hoping this means they'll give more opportunity to new/less recognised female comedians rather than just cycling through the same four or five faces.

I always thought Victoria Coren Mitchell was usually pretty funny, but only really on topical news shows (since that's mostly all I can remember her from). Don't see her enough on TV. I really can't stand Sarah Millican.
