RAF Typhoons have been scrambled to intercept two Russian bombers heading towards UK airspace, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The jets were dispatched from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire on Wednesday afternoon following the security alert.
An RAF spokesman said the situation was "on-going" and was not uncommon. "We have Typhoons up on a quick reaction alert," he said.
Ah yes the annual "lets fly bombers over England" event, good job Russia. Really winning over the World's support
Seems this is just routine for the RAF now

Oi Russia, fuck off for 30 mins while a finish my dinner?
From Lincolnshire, huh, don't the Russians usually fly over Scotland?

Not through our airspace...
RAF Coningsby might have had the lead on the QRA, don't know.
Haha, at least they didn't make it half way down the Channel this time.

Half of these incidents don't even make the news over here. We're used to it.
Russia is just a major liability to the world at this point. Like they are actively working to make the situation on the world stage worse. Maybe im just an idealist, but it boggles my mind why they would be so gungho about digging the trench between them and the rest of the world deeper and deeper, like they think they are going to benefit from it.

Putin becomes more powerful when he makes the rest of the world look like the enemy of russia. He's like Kim Jong Il. Russia is seriously the #1 problem in the world right now. A lot of our trouble in the ME wouldn't be around if Russia wasn't trying to install dictators there all the time. Russia is the enemy of mankind

All RAF Typhoon squadrons take turns at 'tours' on QRA. 2 weeks a tour, I think. During that time they have crews on the shortest possible alert to scramble and more on lower alertness levels. It's a rotation. Thing is, the difference between Lossiemouth (northeast Scotland) and Coningsby (about an hour north of London) is about two minutes at Mach 2, so it doesn't matter which squadron is stood up.
Putin gets a boon out of making the most of the world Russia's enemy. That way he can pretend to the protector of Russia to Russia's citizens.
But these flights are an old Soviet tactic that never ceased. They were lessened during the 90s though.
I think education should cost money as a barrier; I don't think everybody in America should go to college and I think college degrees have devalued because everyone is expected to go. Some people should work in factories, some people should be plumbers, and some people go to college. I think everyone should have an equal shot at getting funding for school, but I don't think everyone should go to school. It's crippling our workforce.

I don't think that Russia as a whole is an enemy to the rest of the world. the Russian government just seems to be inclined to antagonizing the west instead of progressing. I guess it's easier to point fingers than it is to actually fix any problems, which the US is guilty of as well.
why does russia do this?
Like is it a threat or do they just like getting a chase or are they trying to flirt with us?????
Okay? Russia accounts for 33% of the world's heroin demand while only holding like 2% of the world's population. They can fly their bombers all they want, at the end of the day I'd rather live here.
Suppose because Russian people and culture has not known peace and safety in hundreds or thousands of years, are not trustful enough to lower their weapons.

They're testing UK response times

Russians are unhappy not dictating how the world should work. After the fall of the Soviet union, russia lost almost all international influence for nearly a decade. Putin, with the help of Gazprom, brought russia back to the realm of foreign influence.
We literally get the same article every 6 month.
In other news, the sun rose today and the sky does appear to be blue.

Think about what you just said

Yeah thought it might be something like that. I have some awareness of how it works but I'm not too clued up, I'll leave it to the RAF to bugger around with! What fun.
