Russia is just a major liability to the world at this point. Like they are actively working to make the situation on the world stage worse. Maybe im just an idealist, but it boggles my mind why they would be so gungho about digging the trench between them and the rest of the world deeper and deeper, like they think they are going to benefit from it.

During that time they have crews on the shortest possible alert to scramble and more on lower alertness levels. It's a rotation. Thing is, the difference between Lossiemouth (northeast Scotland) and Coningsby (about an hour north of London) is about two minutes at Mach 2, so it doesn't matter which squadron is stood up.

Putin gets a boon out of making the most of the world Russia's enemy. That way he can pretend to the protector of Russia to Russia's citizens. But these flights are an old Soviet tactic that never ceased. They were lessened during the 90s though.

I guess it's easier to point fingers than it is to actually fix any problems, which the US is guilty of as well.

After the fall of the Soviet union, russia lost almost all international influence for nearly a decade. Putin, with the help of Gazprom, brought russia back to the realm of foreign influence.
