Why does everyone always hate on Voyager so much? I loved it just for the journey into the unknown premise, let alone Janeway being an awesome Captain.
More on topic though, I just hope it doesn't borrow anything really from the new movies. Especially that ugly as hell engine room.

It'd be interesting to see the state of the galaxy post-TNG. I was always more into the main continuity than the JJ continuity.

No it didn't. It went into more the lore, which a lot of people at the time were excited about, because at the point of Voyager there really wasn't too much information about them.

Which was a good thing imo.
I'd rather a series set in the mirror universe, it would be more edgy, the optimism TOS and TNG had doesn't really work with today's expectations.

I always thought DS9 was extremely bad compared to voyager.

And then MGM ran out of money and cancelled it, just when it was getting good. It took Atlantis a series to find its feet and get going and that turned out great, it was also meant to be a darker (but not gritty or edgy) take on Stargate.

If you want some slightly darker, fairly hard science fiction I recommend The Expanse. It's fucking amazing.
