Why do parents do that? My younger brother is currently 7 in the 2nd grade, and his behavior is absolutely horrible. I really mean it's horrible, he gets constant complaints from his school, weekly report cards demanding parent teacher conferences, and gets in a lot of trouble, not to mention he's annoying as fuck and he's not that good at school work.
Here's the thing though, he plays video games, that's cool right? But he plays a lot of it, and when I did bad in school when I was his age, parents took away all my electronics and forced me to work. Not with him, even after every complaint and report card, they just go easy on him and let him do whatever. What the fuck man.
This pissed me off so much, I try my best to set him straight, taking away his games so he'll concentrate on his work, and telling him he can play after. But he just complains to my parents and they yell at me telling I'm the one at fault.
Just now, he was practicing his piano, and then he stops a minute after and says he didn't look at the time (He has to practice 30 minutes), then he goes "Only 20 minutes left!", so I quickly correct him and he starts to whine some more about how I'm wrong and he wants to play his games. So then he starts crying about his game and crap. I get really pissed and break his microSD that I bought with MY money for him as a present. I just show it in his face and I break it in half. He crys and calls my dad and just right now, as I'm typing, my dad is yelling at me, even though I told him I'll give him another one.
What the fuck is with that, I rage when my parents do that, they've done it so much, and the one time I do something about it, they yell at me like nuts, even though they did it to me when I was younger.

I'm the youngest and i always got shit on.
Parents had to put up with the older siblings, so now they try things differently. Plus they could really give a shit after one set of kids has driven them insane.

Every time he does something stupid, smash a brick to his head.
If he cries, or threatens to tell someone, simply do it again.
It's okay if he falls asleep after a hit. That's normal.
He will become an obedient boy in no time.

Well, it can always be because they think of you as the mature figure, and him as less developed and mature. Just try not to treat him like shit. I was the youngest, and every time my brother treated me like shit, he wasn't punished. Just try to talk to him and not fly off the handle when he acts like a dick. You are more mature, and should act like it.

They might just have higher expectations for you.
Or try the evil approach, treat him like shit, don't listen to him, buy nice food and eat it infront of him, don't buy him stuff, etc. Become a douche.

Too many times to count, they will not take my advice at all. I tell them everytime he has his DS in his hands to not let him play. They don't give a fuck about my opinion.
And my brother doesn't care about what I say either, he WILL ignore it. My parents don't see me as a mature figure, even if I'm heading to College soon and I help them with bills and stuff like that. :S

I''m the youngest being 18 and my brother 22. We fight and go at it like no other, but what happens is my brother is always blamed for it, and i;m babied. As far as treating each other my mom treated us both fairly mainly spoiling me but still no different in punishing and shit.

Ugh, I feel your pain. When I was in my teens, I wasn't allowed to go in chat rooms and got grounded for an entire summer and given a ton of extra chores because I kept going into them behind their backs. Not saying it was wrong of my parents to punish me for disobeying them, but it went a little overboard. I was also made to write a letter of apology to my friend's parents for being a bad influence on her and her parents banned me from seeing her because I introduced her to chat rooms. Seriously, it was just a dumb fansite for a book series, not inappropriate in the least!
Anyway, right, back to the topic at hand. My parents could care less if my sister goes in chat rooms. In fact, she spends all day talking to her friends on WoW, they phone each other every day, they send gifts to each other, and she goes to visit them around the country. I think it's more of a sign of the times than them treating me differently, but it still bothers me a lot. That was a terrible summer and I nearly lost my best friend to that whole disaster.

I have a younger brother about 3 years younger than me, I noticed he does a lot of stuff that my parents wouldn't let me do when I was his age, but we get treated about the same.
