From Crash Mania:
According to David Siller, one of the producers of the original game, the first segment of the video was intended to be used as the game's intro, whereas the second one (with Cortex falling into the ship) was meant to be the game's ending. It wasn't an animated series, and it wasn't a proposed advertisement for the game or anything of the sort. It was meant to be in the game itself.
Wait, did Cortex seriously just murder Crash at the very end? Like in a split second? That's pretty hardcore.
I fucking knew it. They all doubted me, but I knew it was true.
Who's that kid, now, huh? Yeah!
Well this is something i didnt expect seeing.
Got some sort of Taz-Mania vibe from it, i cant be the only one surely?
This looks very animaniacs to me and it's also a seriously incredible find
Oh how i wish for another Crash game, i wish Naughty dog could get the rights back :(
Oh how i wish for another Crash game, i wish Naughty dog could get the rights back :(
Naughty Dog could do it as some sort of passion project, but I doubt they'll allocate a huge Uncharted-tier team to do it, not that they'd need it.
Now that FF7, Shenmue 3 and The Last Guardian are out of the way, I believe Crash on PS4 is the next top request.
Naughty Dog has already said they don't want to do cartoony art styles anymore, as well as the fact they sold the rights and decided to move on from Crash a long time ago
I can't imagine what they would do with Crash anyways. I think it belongs to the childhood of those who played and love it anyways. I suppose it's only me.

I thought more of Freakazoid.

he straight up didn't give a single fuck about the whole thing either he just went balls deep and murdered him

Animaniacs with a cheaper animation budget :v:
Too Many Cooks: Crash Bandicoot Edition
Really interesting that it has Tiny and the Komodo brothers even though they weren't introduced until the second game

At certain points I could almost sing 'we have pay or play contracts' to the tune without a problem.
really interesting find
I would have probably watched a show about this
Just read about this.

Nah, you see there's a question mark after The End?
Btw this is the original upload by David Siller.
Check the comments and he also put up a Facebook page in 2014 which he first updated just now: https://www.facebook.com/crashbandicoot.untoldstory I'm already a friend. :smug:
So.
Why did they cut this from the game?

Kinda shit as far as cartoon theme songs go tbh.
That ending was hilarious! Too bad they didn't keep that in the game.
This video is test animation that was done for Crash Bandicoot. Produced by Universal Animation early in the development of the game. It was based on ideas for where we were going with this IP at that time. It was probably too ambitious in nature and was also trying to be humorous. It was never used or even embedded in the game as a hidden "easter egg" treat.
Once UIS licensed the game to Sony for publication, Sony did not want it utilized since they were heavily pushing the "3D" agenda.
There are many close to the development of the original game that do not even know that this material even existed.
Sony wanted to heavily push the fact the PlayStation could do 3D.
Also I somehow forgot Universal was involved with Crash Bandicoot.

They never had the rights to it.

Oh right, the era of Sony shoving in half-assed 3D into many games and fucking over or refusing to publish 2D games because 3D was the 'cool thing'. Fuck you Bernie Stolar, he refused to accept 2D games, RPGs and anything too overly Japanese before SCEA kicked his ass out. .. and then did the same thing to the Sega Saturn with his 'five-star games policy' at SEGA of America.

This will never be irrelevant.
oh man complete even with vhs tracking and scanline glitches.
oh man complete even with vhs tracking and scanline glitches.
Oh dude, all I need is some gnarly Ecto Cooler, some Micro Machines, and the best Windows 98 computer that can run my shareware games and I'm all set!
i wonder how long ago this was made. im guessing 1994, since the leaked prototype from early 95 doesnt have tiny and the komodo bros
This will never be irrelevant.
This is just depressing.
Man, it was painful seeing what childhood favourites like Crash and Spyro were becoming with time, at least it seems they were finally put to rest now. Goodnight, sweet prince.

Maybe they were some random mutants and then they decided to use them in the second game when they started developing it, and not the other way around
