Cool I guess.
Whats the point, whats wrong with normal Stall doors

THIS IS THE FUTURE MOTHERFUCKER
pretty cool
i was thinking it would be like one-way mirror so you could see out but they couldn't see in but that would be creepy
There's probably another guy taking a shit one stall over wondering why there's a guy walking around with a camcorder saying "no entry" and playing with the doors.
Whats the point, whats wrong with normal Stall doors
more immediately obvious which stalls are taken

Plus looks awesome.
Genius and futuristic-looking. It's got my vote.
Fancy.
But what happens when the locks get old and start to malfunction?
Smart glass is the coolest.
I think it is partially to remind people to lock the door.
Don't these things work by putting an electric charge into the glass? Does that mean that if the power goes out, so does privacy?
I could totally see someone pressing their ass up to the door and then flashing people in the bathroom by quickly unlocking and locking the door.
Do you know how akward it is to go fucking around with a stall door with somebody in there. It's worse when you're sitting there doing your business and somebody who obviously have more power than they think almost rip the door down. Helps business go faster I guess
Who would open a door that is shut? If it's shut then its occupied. I honestly never seen anyone have a problem with telling who is in a stall or not. Also this looks very expensive to install and to replace (stall doors are subject to damage/graffiti all the time)
I like this idea purely because if the lock is broken then it needs replaced. So many fucking stalls out there that have broken locks and it is the worst when you need a shit.

One-way mirrors don't exist :v:
It only works because it's partially reflective in both directions and one side is too dark to see from the other. If you manage to block out the light in an area you can see the other side.

actually the electric charge is needed to keep it clear
Exactly. Its default setting is opaque to prevent exactly that scenario.
That is really cool and futuristic looking but you know people are just going to draw all over it and scratch their shitty tags into the glass
We can't have nice things
looks fake judging by how the whole handle moves near the end
This makes it way less invasive do have stuff like security cams in restrooms now that I think of it
You can have your camera facing the stalls and be able to see into the stalls, and people still get their privacy when they actually use the stalls. Could be really helpful if you have vandalism issues I guess.
What you don't know tho is that people can still see you shit from the outside.

depends where you put them. obviously you wouldn't waste money putting these doors in public bathrooms in trainstations n stuff - you'd save them for swanky restaurants and places like that
looks fake judging by how the whole handle moves near the end
I've been to a hotel where a WALL was like this. It separated the bathroom from the bedroom. I think it turned opaque when you turned the lights on in the bathroom, or locked the door. I have absolutely no idea why it was like that.
And then you will have the people who don't understand how this works and leave it transparent while they're taking a shit.
Holy shit electrochromic windows, I remember first seeing them in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory thinking "wow that's pretty neat hope to see them in real life one day"
the future, is HERE
I happened to use something like this on a changing room door at Aéropostale. I was totally confused at first when I saw it.
Whats the point, whats wrong with normal Stall doors
It's easy to instantly see which ones are taken and which are not.
If I were in the cubicle and locked it, I'd be too paranoid in thinking it's one way glass that can be seen from the outside.
Make a version where you can see out but people cant see in when locked. Stand there in a horrifying outfit and wait for people to come in and flicker the lock.
