City police said the men recently approached George Johnson as he raked leaves outside his southwest Baltimore home. The men, dressed in suits and flashing a badge, managed to talk their way inside, telling Johnson they were looking for a bank robber and some counterfeit money. Johnson gave the men his money before realizing it was all a scam. "I thought they were legit. They took me for $3,000, all in $100 bills," Johnson said. "After I saw the badge and everything, and they had pictures of the people they were looking for, I thought they were legit, you know? So, in turn, I let them in." The men said they had a warrant and wanted to see the serial numbers on his cash. "When they seen (sic) the money, they said, 'Oh, this is the money,' and they snatched it, and I tried to hold on to it, and he wrenched it out of my hand and left," Johnson said. Johnson said he knew he wasn't strong enough to fight them men off or to chase them down for his $3,000. "I mean, I'm 75 and I'm not as quick-thinking as I used to be. They just got me. I'm grateful that I got my life, that I'm still alive. I can always get more money," Johnson said. "Nobody was home with me. They could have stabbed me or do anything. I could have just died in here." Investigators said they have a vague description of two black men about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. They were last seen dressed in navy blue jackets and khaki pants.
I love how where I live never has any positive news. Fucking sickening.
People will do anything for money.
money truly is the root of all evil.
Fucking scum. People fall so low it's sad
Fucking scum. People fall so low it's sad
its not their fault, in a society which places money above all it's no surprise that people will put even their own dignity past themselves in the eternal struggle for riches.
money truly is the root of all evil.
It just reveals the inherent evil.
its not their fault, in a society which places money above all it's no surprise that people will put even their own dignity past themselves in the eternal struggle for riches.
Hipster.
Hipster.
hipster? how cliche, my views come purely from a scientific standpoint. you are the product of your environment; there is no such thing as 'inherent evil' and the environment you grow up in is one that values money greatly. im not trying to be pretentious, its just the truth.
its not their fault, in a society which places money above all it's no surprise that people will put even their own dignity past themselves in the eternal struggle for riches.
It's been like that since the beginning of time.
It's been like that since the beginning of time.
I has been like that since the beginning of any economic system.
Fuck the fake police.
Why do people this evil exist?
Why do people this evil exist?
The scary thing is that a lot people that are more evil exist.
Why do people this evil exist?
Usually they come from abusive families.
I has been like that since the beginning of any economic system.
Feudalism didn't place money in an incredibly high regard since that economic/political system didn't use a ton of currency. It was more about sacred bonds and oaths between vassals, lords, and serfs. I could probably cite more examples.
We should just flatten Baltimore. The entire city is shit. [editline]13th May 2012[/editline]
Mistranslation: The correct quote is "money is the root of all kinds of evil." The passage was meant to point to how money can be the root of corruption, not that it automatically corrupts anyone with money.
The correct quote is "Radix malorum est cupiditas"
We should just flatten Baltimore. The entire city is shit.
Agreed. But it isn't logical. But all around Baltimore is a crime ridden slum now. I'm in Reisterstown which is a few miles north of the metro line, and right at the end of the bus line. I'm in the historic area of Reisterstown so my area can't be touched by section 8, but it's pretty close. Tons of local news stories about home invasions and people being tied up while their homes are ransacked, etc. Luckly I'm prepared for shit like that. Others, not so much...
