• The Witcher 3 street date broken in United Arab Emirates; Twitch bans streaming of the game till May

TL;DR - Watch out for spoilers attaching the newest video for the game showcasing the gore in combat because it was also in the article
Games leak all kinds of ways: through hacks, through accidents, and sometimes through a good old-fashioned physical copy. That’s what seemed to have happened to The Witcher 3, which has been showing up on Twitch streams almost two weeks ahead of its actual release — apparently, stores in the UAE have started selling copies early. Footage, screenshots and spoilers are already floating around the Internet, and Twitch isn’t pleased. It tweets: “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not allowed for broadcasting until May 19, 2015. Broadcasting before this date is subject to DMCA guidelines.” Some streams have already been banned for showing footage early, according to Kotaku, also reminding us that Witcher spoilers have been around since a high-profile hack of developer CD Projeckt Red Last year. So if you’re keen to experience this game with fresh eyes, you might want to stay away from any shady seeming forums and feeds. It’s a shame for CD Projekt Red, whose views on downloadable content and DRM have been popular in the video game community. I've always wondered, do retailers suffer any kind of recourse for breaking street dates?
I've always wondered, do retailers suffer any kind of recourse for breaking street dates?
I guess the publisher can just refuse to let them sell their next games if they get pissed enough.
I've always wondered, do retailers suffer any kind of recourse for breaking street dates?
don't send any extra stock when they sell out
I swear, it's always the UAE that does this. They did this with Ground Zeroes too.
Are the Witcher games any good? I've only seen gameplay of the first and second ones, and they seem kind of clunky.

The combat's not as good as The Witcher 3's looks, which looks great for any game, let alone an RPG, but it's more than playable. The original's combat is a bit dated and frustrating to play now, and you don't need to play the first to play the second. The story is what sets Witcher games apart from anything else out there. The storytelling is just brilliant and no other game makes your choices have anywhere near as much impact as they do in The Witcher.
I've always wondered, do retailers suffer any kind of recourse for breaking street dates?
Why do you think people who post their early copies always hide which store it was on the receipt? You can get blacklisted for breaking street date.

It's really cool. Curious to see that expanded in Witcher 3

Got the Last of Us like 2 weeks early last time I was there.
So this is ISIS's Next tactic. spoiler bombing the masses
Is Witcher 2 the one that ran worse than GTA4 did on launch? I've been wanting to pick it up but more than the lack of time I've been a bit cautionous of the perfomance
If by worse you mean required a higher end machine to run on max, yes. If by worse you mean even more poorly optimized than GTA4, no. The Witcher games are known for pushing the absolute boundaries with graphics tech. IIRC The Witcher 3 is expected to hold 60fps @ 1080p on ultra with a 980. That probably doesn't include the hair physics though.
Have a 980, I don't expect it to hold a solid 60@1080p on ultra
How so? Pretty much the best card on the market right now short of flagship cards that cost more than your entire rig.
Have a 980, I don't expect it to hold a solid 60@1080p on ultra
Yeah, we'll see. That's just what a company that got early access to the game said they were getting with a 980 and 4790k.
Why exactly is twitch banning these streams? It's like with Ebay banning the selling of ps4's with PT. Why are companies starting to make exceptions?
Why exactly is twitch banning these streams? It's like with Ebay banning the selling of ps4's with PT. Why are companies starting to make exceptions?
I'm pretty sure Twitch has always come down on streamers streaming a game before release.
I'm pretty sure Twitch has always come down on streamers streaming a game before release.
It depends on the game and dev.
