(WMAZ) -- A Dublin church group plans to gather pumpside Saturday and pray for the gas prices to drop. It's an effort started by the Beacon of Light Christian Center in Dublin. "I believe if we come together and pray as a community we can really make something happen," says the church's pastor, Marshall Mabry. Mabry says he can remember when gas jumped from under $1 to $1.50 and says, now, with prices reaching almost $4, he says he plans to ask God for help. And this isn't the first time his congregation has gathered at Kroger's gas pumps. "It's the third time," he says, "I want to start a movement. I want this to go from Dublin to Macon, from Macon to Atlanta and all over the country." "I can't see how a country like ours, that could put people on the moon like it's nothin' and people in outerspace like it's nothin' can't make some kind of fuel that would run in these cars that wouldn't cost very much money," says Thomas Didonato, who paid $3.64/gallon on Monday. Didonato was just one of a line of people who paid nearly $4 per gallon. "It's not a white issue, not a black issue, it's a green issue," says Pastor Mabry of the escalating prices. "If it doesn't drop down to nothin' but ten cents, I'm happy with that. But what I really want to believe God to do is drop down $1.50, hey, I'm glad with that, too," says the pastor. The group will start prayer at 9 a.m. Saturday at Kroger on Hillcrest Parkway in Dublin. Pastor Mabry says he hopes it'll kick off a first Saturday prayer event every month, and they'll see a drop in costs at the pump soon.
hallelujah
So, an omniscient being needs to be reminded that gas prices are really high? And, wouldn't God have bigger problems to solve anyway? For example, the fact that Japan is being put through the wringer. I'd rather God help with that than gas prices.
Email'd this to a priest at a local church of mine, who I'm friends with because I used to go there. He said he got a good laugh out of it :v:
Oh religion you so funny.
Christians
MAKE MORE CONVENTIONAL OIL, JESUS!! :frown::arghfist: It's not working...
plz god, make more dinosaurs in the past to die and make oil please. Even they can't exist because the earth is only 6000 years old. oops
Funny story.
So, an omniscient being needs to be reminded that gas prices are really high? And, wouldn't God have bigger problems to solve anyway? Can't wait to see if this works
It's funny because if prices do drop, they will take it as direct evidence for the existence of God
Can't wait to see if this works
I hope it does, prices have been a huge bitch lately.
Praying =/= Actually doing something.
We pay £1.46 / $2.50 a litre here. That's $11 a gallon. Deal with it. $4 a gallon is nowhere near enough.
Praying =/= Actually doing something.
Praying = Hoping you get a stroke of luck.
Praying = Hoping you get a stroke of luck.
Praying = not dealing with a problem and hoping God will fix it
i'd pray to have my gas cost $4 a gallon...
Not that you Americans can really fix your gas prices ninjad
Perhaps they should start a campaign promoting carpooling or driving smaller cars..... But that would be the sensible thing to do....
Nothing will stop gas prices from rising. NOT EVEN GOD!
-snip-
Praying = not dealing with a problem and hoping God will fix it
Praying = not like they're gonna do anything anyway
oh my god guys why dont you respect their beleifs
I love how Americans think they have it bad when it comes to gas. 250$ just to fill up my tank.
Facepunch and religion threads: oh no a religion is doing something, that they believe might help :v: but don't make fun of my beliefs that's being intolerant of others!
Facepunch and religion threads: oh no a religion is doing something, that they believe might help :v: but don't make fun of my beliefs that's being intolerant of others!
I believe stabbing little girls will help bring world peace :downs: Intent is irrelevant, Praying = Wasting time, thus a useless act.
Idiots in general.
People who think Christians are idiots are egotistic. Whats with all the anti-christian stuff? Facepunch says they are more tolerant than Christians when this is in fact a lie.
People who think Christians are idiots are egotistic.
...No? They're stereotyping, not being egotistic.
Sillyness.
oh my god guys why dont you respect their beleifs
Cause their beliefs are funny :(
I thought it was nice...
