You fucked up FP, you just missed the Academy president pronouncing Dick Pope's name as 'dick poop'
[editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
I'm serious, 30 years from now people are going to ask where you were when #dickpoop happened. You could have seen it FP. You only had to listen.

Carell snuck in a nom for best actor so even if he won't win I'm happy
Nominees are up on the site now

Really no John Wick nom?
That movie was sick
How come Lego movie isn't nominated for best animated feature?
Who'd have thunk Steve Carell would ever be up for best actor.
How come Lego movie's not been nominated for best animated feature?
Because it wasn't good.

john wick isn't the type of movie that would get an oscar nomination
whiplash should win best picture

The Lego Movie was great, what are you talking about
The Lego Movie was great, what are you talking about
So everyone said but I didn't like it at all. This is coming from someone who liked Phil Lord & Christopher Miller's other movies.
john wick isn't the type of movie that would get an oscar nomination
That is ridiculous
I really want Rosamund Pike to win for Gone Girl, but it'll probably go to Julianne Moore because Alzheimer's is sad.
That is ridiculous
i don't think they'll be handing out oscars for best action or fight choreography anytime soon
besides, not having an oscar nom (or failing to win an oscar)=/=bad movie
[editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
uh i think jake gyllenhaal should have least gotten a nomination for nightcrawler. it's been some time since i've seen it but i remember him being really really good.
I hate the huge hype over Oscars. It's just an overly dramatic ceremony of a bunch of circlejerkers giving each other ego blow jobs.

yeah fuck the establishment

Woody Allen?
Woody Allen?
Robert Downey Jr? Leonardo DiCaprio?

It's not like that wasnt a terrific movie though.

Really good is not even the right words. His acting was incredible, fucking near perfect performance.
[editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
He was also in another film about dopplegangers early in the year as well which he was brilliant in. I swear he really outdid himself this year, sad he was nominate.
Enemy. That was it.
I really want Rosamund Pike to win for Gone Girl, but it'll probably go to Julianne Moore because Alzheimer's is sad.
Rosamund Pike deserves to have that shit on lock. Never have I been more disturbed yet attracted to a woman before.
Where the fuck is the Lego movie for best animated?
Birdman was damn good.
But Budapest was damn good.
I can't decide which I like more. Probably Budapest.
Where the fuck is the Lego movie for best animated?
From a technical standpoint alone, it's an incredibly impressive movie. The explosions and water effects are especially great.

at least "Everything Is Awesome" got a nomination..
Cinematography - Birdman or Grand Budapest Hotel? Hard choice.
Goddamn that's a bad list of movies. I mean the movies are good. But there are a lot of very questionable snubs.
I have no idea why the director of Selma wasn't at least nominated. Selma was snubbed in a lot of categories, it's supposed to be much better than the Imitation Game and American Sniper.
And why the fuck is the Boxtrolls/Big Hero 6/p. much anything nominated over the Lego Movie.

I do like how they did the whole "filmed in one shot" thing with Birdman, but I gotta give it to Budapest. That movie used colors so wonderfully that it was a treat to watch.
Interstellar not good enough for best picture or really any of the big categories? That isn't cool.
I hope Boyhood doesn't win best picture. I haven't seen the movie, and I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but it has that "Oscar Winner, because how could it not?" vibe going with it. I hope Birdman wins personally.

Neither Peter Jackson or Christopher Nolan deserve to get much recognition, according to the Academy. I think it's bullshit too. But to be fair, their latest films haven't been that good, even if many people did enjoy them.

Why would they give best picture to a sci-fi film, let alone nominate onon
Hopefully interstellar wins its sound noms tho. In Imax that was an experience

I thought Boyhood was quite generic and predictable. Outside of the gimmick of "WATCH THE KID GROW UP!!!11111111" it wasn't that good.
Glad to see Leviathan up for best foreign-language film though. I fucking love Andrey Zvyagintsev's stuff.
You know what I just realized? Gyllenhaal didn't get a nomination. Now that is bullshit.
