Stephen Harper announced a $15 million plan to protect salmon habitat in B.C last week, but the Tories made a bit of a blunder rolling out the news online. The Conservatives used a picture of an Atlantic salmon instead of a Pacific salmon in posts touting the plan on social media and on the party website.
The photo is easily searchable on the iStock online photo database, where it is listed with the keyword "Atlantic Ocean".
The Conservatives quickly deleted the photo and replaced it with one of a Pacific salmon, but not before it caught the notice of the Ottawa Citizen and users on Twitter.
Canadas got the politics spirit going on.
Le Gasp!
Global stock meltdown but otherwise a slow day for Canadian news
"Pro-Environmental"
Jesus christ you're nothing but anti-environment, Conservatives. Lying through your teeth should be considered a criminal offense when you're campaigning to lead the nation.

Well it's not really about logic at this point, it's conservatives saying they are pro-almost everything that is nonpartisan whilst simultaneously launching smear campaigns against all other parties.
:v:
I wonder how long it would've stayed if nobody pointed it out?

But here is CBC with the soundbite
I'm not entirely sure why it matters. Canada has land bordering both oceans in question, has both fish in question, so fuggit. A salmon's a salmon as far as this is concerned.

Not in terms of a reproductive isolated species it isn't.

Considering how the two fish are in different genera entirely, I think it's a pretty important distinction.

Because people want to nitpick the conservatives every chance they get, honestly I'm pretty sick and tired of seeing "FUCK HARPER!!!" everywhere. If you don't agree where he stands politically then vote against him, don't make yourself look like a dick.
