• I think I bought the wrong guitar...

Hey FP, some ages ago I bought an electric guitar (Not sure which model, unrelevant to my question)/ Just recently I heard that right handed people should fret with their left hand, and vice versa. So I present you, my problem. I'm left handed, and I fret with my left hand because that's what my guitar is made for. I present you, my question. Can I just fight through the hardship of learning to fret with my left hand? I really don't wanna have to sell this guitar and buy one for left handed folk.
Pull a Jimi and restring it backwards, that way you can just flip the guitar and play left-handed.
A what?
I'm left handed, always been. Never touched a left-handed guitar/bass in my life. Just learn it as any other person would and you'll have no problem.
Just continue playing like you are, it won't be some sort of "hardship" if you start out that way. Loads of left handed people play right handed guitar due the fact that right handed guitars are a lot more available.
Also, while we're at it, would buying a guitar strap help with holding my guitar? (while sitting down, mind you.) My hand cramps up like a duck's ass when I try to play obscure fret combos (index on the 3rd and pinky on the 7th to try and tap the intro of Hot For Teacher :v:)
It's only because you're new at it. Everybody has those problems in the beginning. You just need to practice more. And to answer your question: yup.
One of my friends (Who happens to be a girl) is left handed but plays a right handed guitar right handedly She said she found it no weirder holding a guitar either way. She is good at guitar because she put the time in learning that way and now finds playing a lefty impossible :v:
Alright, thanks for the info peeps, much appreciated.
Left-handed guitars are for pussies. (I'm a lefty so a lot of boxes plz)
