Sherif Hashim, the iPhone developer and hacker who recently found an exploit in the latest iPhone OS 3.1.3, which could enable the unlock on 05.12.01 baseband for iPhone 3GS and 3G devices has been banned by Apple for the so called “security reasons”. This is what Sherif gets when he tries to access App Store from his iPhone. App Store Ban Sherif posted about the ban on his twitter account today. Saying:
"Your Apple ID was banned for security reasons", that’s what i get when i try to go to the app store, they must be really angry :) )))) and guess what my apple ID was, "sherif_hashim@yahoo.com", what a fool was me not to notice :) )), can’t help laughing, they are babies :) ))
Another iPhone hacker named iH8sn0w who is behind Sn0wbreeze – the PwnageTool alternative for Windows also confirmed this action from Apple saying that his Apple ID was banned following the release of XEMN.
@sherif_hashim lol, they did that to my ih8sn0wyday[@t]googmail.com too. (right after I posted XEMN)…
It is to be noted here that the said exploit which Sherif found has not been released yet. The iPhone Dev-Team who tested out the exploit confirmed it as working but they didn’t gave any ETA on when or if they are going to release a tool which is going to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 05.12.01 Baseband for iPhone 3G and 3GS. Maybe they don’t want to waste this all important exploit for this minor update and instead will use it when the major update such as iPhone 3.2 or iPhone 4.0 is released with the next-gen iPhone 4G..
Sucks for everyone who is hacking it. But they are losing money on people who don't pay for the apps. So I can't blame Apple for getting mad.
Haha, Apple is pretty dumb sometimes. Do they actually think that banning the itunes accounts will stop them from finding more exploits or something?
Sucks for everyone who is hacking it. But they are losing money on people who don't pay for the apps. So I can't blame Apple for getting mad.
Only the people who created the jailbreaks so far
Sucks for everyone who is hacking it. But they are losing money on people who don't pay for the apps.
Haha, Apple is pretty dumb sometimes. I personally find this a dumb move.
Apple are a bunch of spoiled little kids. They really are, they get all pissed off when they can't control or have everything. They're going to lose money from this, oh well fuck apple.
If I jailbreak my phone then just to get some extra functionality that is just essential for some people (multitasking, backgrounding, firewall, adblock, sms character count) and if they would then ban me from buying things, that would be just idiotic. But I don't think they are going to do that. That would be really dumb.
I haven't jailbroken it, I don't really need those extra features right now.
oh boy apple is dumb again for banning people breaking there TOS, Well don't buy the fucking phone then. Every app i've needed i got for free in the appstore, Maybe it's not as shiny and has as many features as the paid apps but it got the job done keeping me either buzy for a car trip or in a waiting room.
How bout just fix it so you can't use hacked apps? Or atleast update the next OS so you can can add wallpapers, and stuff like that. without JB
They wouldn't be jail breaking them as much if people could chose who was the service provider for this device. I keep arguing with Dad over this. (He works for AT&T)

Some people need the extra functions, it isn't like any of that effect apple in anyway. People still buy the apps.
Apple needs more money?....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
But they are losing money.
Are you fucking joking?
$1,199.00 $1,499.00 $1,699.00 $1,999.00
For a mediocre computer setup, straight from the iMac store.
People should be able to do what they want with their product. Some people need the extra functions, it isn't like any of that effect apple in anyway. Last time I looked it was entirely optional and people can always buy other stuff that suit their 'needs', there's plenty of good choices available from a whole range of different companies.
If you jailbreak you generally dont use the app store, you use installous or other things like it. Apples fail is fail.
Won't this encourage piracy? It's kind of a like a music record label not allowing someone to buy their CDs because they pirated music from one of their artists before.
Are you fucking joking? For a mediocre computer setup, straight from the iMac store.
From the iPhone App Store market. No, he isn't joking. Generally, people jailbreak now for "OMG FREE APPS YAY XD <3", not "whoa apps that i can't get on the app store o:" because a majority of people have wants that they want on the App Store.

I jailbroke mine for Winterboard.
So can i still get in the app store with my jailbroken ipod?
Exactly, there's some people have other needs. However, the general amount of people wonder why they should jailbreak. "okay..themes..sound..cool.." "emulator? what's that.." "free apps? OMG OOO:" [editline]07:11PM[/editline]
So can i still get in the app store with my jailbroken ipod?
Yes, this is just the people who made the jailbreak :P
Read title as "Apple iBans hackers from app store"
The funny thing is: Hacked iPods and iPhones can get apps for free without the app store.
I think that all of this could be completely avoided if Apple actually took the time to sit down and look over what the jailbreaking process actually allows users to do. Take for instance the simple "personalized themes" function for the home screen. How fucking hard would that be for Apple to integrate into their new firmwares or even possibly a new app? Sometimes I think that Apple just sits there and fucking cries and whines about their problems rather than actually do something about it.

If Apple released their own version of Winterboard and a few other essential modifications (SBSettings, USB Drive, OpenSSH/OpenSSL, Terminal, Cyntacts, etc.) I would have no reason to jailbreak, except maybe gameboy emulation.

Problem solved. Let's inform Apple.
