Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill nearly died while filming a sequel to the Star Wars trilogies on a remote Irish island, it has been claimed.
Hamill, now 63, slipped during a dangerous climb in a treacherous spot on Skellig Michael, a rocky outcrop off the coast of County Kerry which has claimed the lives of two tourists in recent years.
it's sounding a little more dramatic then it is, but yeah people can get hurt making these movies.
You mean Episode 7? Or did they already start filming 8?
You mean Episode 7?
It turns out that they're already working on Episode 8.
Sequences for episode seven – Star Wars: The Force Reawakens – were shot on Skellig Michael last year. On Monday the filmmakers will return to the island – around 7 miles off the Iveragh peninsula – to shoot scenes for Episode VIII.
So it pretty much confirms that Luke WILL appear in Episode 8. The only thing that we still don't know is his role for 7 and 8.
damn that would of sucked if he died

Well his role for 8 is clearly going to involve near death.
It's pretty crazy to think that production is well on it's way for episode 8 and we haven't seen episode 7 yet.

ScreenRant reported a week or so back that they were just doing re-shoots at the moment in Ireland because the weather was "too good" before when they shot there. I doubt it is Ep 8 filming because they are currently filming rogue one with that crew.
UPDATE:
My aplogies, http://screenrant.com/star-wars-8-filming-ireland/ They have redacted their earlier article. It IS episiode 8 they are filming.
So clearly we can expect Carrie Fisher to almost die in Episode 9.

Well it makes sense, none of the actors are getting younger and I guess they wanna finish them before they can't act anymore.

Oh his role in episode 7 is known for quite some time.
It's just that most people don't want to see the leaks.

Also it makes perfect sense they would start filming Episode 8 now. It's a trilogy with rather tight schedule of releases after all.

I'm not even remotely surprised he's in 8 and its probably safe to say he's also in 9, Disney knows what they need in a star wars movie and they're filming practically 3 movies at once

thank you, it was bothering me too
I guess if they were filming outdoors they couldn't use all the safety features that a studio allows for

oh god we would've not had him in the killing joke, that would've sucked :(
-77 Smartness
Damn there's a blast from the past.
Didn't know they were filiming episode 8, I figured it was a typo

Someone's going to end up breaking a hip.

nah he's already recorded all his lines
As long as they are good, they can make 50 of the movies.

Makes you wonder what other sets looked like below the black bars

Standard Practice these days really, of the top of my head you have Lord of the Rings, Harry potter and The Hobbit movies. There's more but i can't be bothered to go looking, but it makes sense if the cast and crew are ready to just crack on with it.

They've done this before for Star Wars. The scene at the end of Revenge of the Sith where Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru are holding baby Luke looking at the binary sunset was filmed during the production of Attack of the Clones so they didn't have to return to Tunisia just for that one scene.

Nah, they brought the same matresses
I still think it's great that they were filming in a natural location at all. It's a really refreshing change from the way the prequel trilogy was filmed, entirely in front of green screens in a tiny space.

I don't know why but I love how Lucas responds to that question.
'So I don't have to come back here'
That ending was just really awkward.
thank you, it was bothering me too
would of, could of, should of
Is there any point in time and space where you could actually use any of those, I wonder?
