I'm almost to tears this is so beautiful. You listen to these pieces of music casually and you think "oh wow that is pretty" but somehow, even when I saw chamber music in person, I had no idea just how complex classical music really was. Now stop, and realize someone did the math for all of those notes and chords, in their head with mother fucking pencil and paper.
Mind = Blown
Gah :psyduck: So much going on.

OH MY FUCKING GOD

You didn't know that?
I was under the impression that everyone who knew anything about Beethoven was that he still composed music even though he became deaf later in life.
I knew it, but not like THIS. I mean, just fucking look at it! He did all of THAT in his fucking HEAD!! The guy was a demi-god.

Well you know, it's not difficult to make music in your head.
It sure is a nice song but I can't fucking hear it anymore. I used to listen to this for years while learning it on guitar.
Smalin has loads of awesome music with the same kind of side scrolling graph program arranged to it.

Do you mean to say that math was involved for this graph visual thing? Because I'm pretty sure hardly any real mathematics were involved in the composition of this piece
But yeah some symphonies will really blow your mind away with the complexities and sheer brilliance. Makes you wonder how exactly he came up with a piece, kept it sustained and built upon it so well
How is math involved?
After watching without stopping all of these bars going right, my eyes feel funky at the moment, and my vision seems to slide.
Really complex, it makes my head blow out.

Every time I hear that song I instantly think of this.
That freaking cello part. :argh:
I mean look at it. It's the same chords trough all the song.

The rules of music are complex. As with most classical music making a simple melody fancy isn't as difficult as you might imagine. As long as you know how melodies and harmonies work you can pull of incredible shit.

For example, this song loses a bit of the "oh wow" factor when you realize the lead instruments are playing the same melody in canon (hence the name). Basically it means that everyone is playing the same thing but start at different times, as seen here:

This piece of art is my favourite song.
As a cellist, this song song of hurts me.
But at the same time, it is beautiful. Wonderful melodies and voicing. But really...it's not really that complicated. Brilliant, but not that complicated.
Now, Shostakovitch's 1st cello concerto...Beethoven's 9th symphony...those blow my mind.

I used this technique in the picture while composing music in Reason 5, made the bass play first quietly and gradually to get louder and each single instrument with melody going in after another, then they meet up in chords.
SOOOO MUCH pseudo-music appreciation in this thread

How can you not appreciate THAT
Canon in D is actually a very mathematical piece, I don't know if anyone else realised but you can actually play any two sections of the song together and they will fit, provided you start at the beginning of a bar on each section
I spent my music lessons messing around with this piece, its awesome
Franz Schubert is so much better.
Marsch Militaire and (the better version of) Ave Maria.
All day.
ERRYDAY.

Ave Maria is beautiful, I remember it mostly from Hitman Blood Money, I used to leave the main menu for longer to listen to this piece.
I thought I was the only one that swayed when I played my viola :psyduck:
You think that was complex?
Canon has nothing on this masterpiece.
