With the ruling, the Keystone State joins a host of others in which judges have struck down existing laws restricting marriage to between one man and one woman. All such decisions have been stayed, pending appeals. "Because these laws are unconstitutional, we shall enter an order permanently enjoining their enforcement," U.S. District Judge John E. Jones wrote of Pennsylvania's same-sex marriage restrictions. "By virtue of this ruling, same-sex couples who seek to marry in Pennsylvania may do so, and already married same-sex couples will be recognized as such in the Commonwealth."
Ohey that's my state.
Can't they just do this for every state all at once? If one state's ban violated the Constitution, another's will if it's on the same thing.

Trust me, the same thing happened here in Canada when we legalized gay marriage.
I'm so glad. I was expecting our state to be one of the last to do so.
And half my town is throwing a gigantic shit fit over this, worried to fuck that my state is next.
ooh i thought something was amish today
One domino after another. Of course, all these court decisions have to go through the appeal process, but I'm confident most will survive, and after a certain number, it won't matter. Also, lol, the article says that all of these court decisions have been stayed. Not in Oregon it wasn't. But they don't intend on appealing, since they weren't comfortable with their 2004 ban to start with, it seems. :v:
Can't they just do this for every state all at once? If one state's ban violated the Constitution, another's will if it's on the same thing.
Because each state is in charge of itself and states' rights are already a tricky thing, doing states in batches based on the federal circuit isn't great as well because you lump together states with very different feelings on the matter. These suits are in play in basically every state that hasn't already legalized it, it's only a matter of time. Manitoba is already being depopulated for resisting.
Oh great, now it's only a matter of time until it's officially renamed Penisylvania. [sp]Why, yes. It is my quest to make a crappy joke in every gay marriage legal thread! See the threads as popular pop artists, and me as Pitt Bull.[/sp]
Ohey that's my state.
Hooray us! [editline]20th May 2014[/editline]
Oh great, now it's only a matter of time until it's officially renamed Penisylvania.
Fun Fact: Penissylvania translates directly to "Penis Forest". (Pennsylvania = Penn's Forest)
The floodgates are opening.
The more social issues we solve, the less Republican and Democratic candidates and politicians can use them to distract us from the real issues. The great thing about these is that other states can use these as precedent to repeal their own gay-marriage bans. "So how do you know they're unconstitutional? Well that's simple, lot at all these other Federal judges that said so!" He's a Bush appointee, but a super cool dude.

Woo, I live here! Now my mom can get married!
He's a conservative Christian and Republican. I understand the debate over "bible said marriage was man/woman etc" but, come on, its a fucking word. I'm not gonna say my uncle and his partner are in a "civil union," no, they're officially married and thats what they are, married.
