dang looks smooth af, glory kills look a lot faster too only problem I got is that the console aiming looks like it doesn't have any aim assist because this guy can't seem to hit even the broad side of the barn
The levels look pretty sprawling with multiple paths and secrets galore like the original. A far cry from Doom 3.

Honestly when this was shown off at last E3 I didn't have much hopes for the game. As the release draws closer and we've been seeing more stuff/been able to play the MP, I might have to pick this up.
dang looks smooth af, glory kills look a lot faster too
idk, I still think they look like they slow the pace. Maybe weaker enemies shouldn't yield glory kills?

He's aiming at their general direction and correcting it. Or at least thats what I saw. Anyway, I'm sold on this and I'm already thinking about either upgrading my PC. Maybe. And to hell with everyone who says that Doom should be exactly like the first games. I absolutely like how there is a story behind it with actual lore, and not just a "kill demons cuz, you know, demons!" kind of reason that gives you no explanations about anything and just boils down to kill kill kill. Doom 3 had the audio logs and the emails from UAC personel which were really interesting to hear and read, and I'm glad this also gives us something to take a look at inbetween the killing, which up till now, looks pretty great.
also 33:33 quite clearly a mancubus (a codex entry also pops up saying it's a mancubus) but both commentators got it wrong and said it was a hell knight. a+

Looks better than i was expecting, i'd probably get it if it didn't cost twice as much as everything else here.
it does, the guy just sucks.
In his defense, why would anyone play it on a console? (excluding people that would have to get it on a console) Like, its not even a "pc master race" thing or anything, but really, FPS games on consoles? Thats just.... HELL to play
The levels look pretty sprawling with multiple paths and secrets galore like the original. A far cry from Doom 3.
Seems like it has a bit few enemies even. Theres so much open space. I remember in Doom 3 being tight every now and then when 3 enemies showed up zooming in on me. edit: oh god what happened here, I broke my own automerge?
Why is it that these previews + first looks and whatever always have shitty people playing? I mean that in the sense of skill

Looks abit too focused on "Arena's" when it comes to the combat encounters though. From what I saw they mostly have the weaker guys as "filler" when you are exploring but none of the bigger guys show up until you get locked into an arena situation. Which kinda feels more like painkiller than DooM to me but, eh, what do I know. I'm just a guy on the internet.
Hdoom mod when?
Looks superb. Nice and quick paced.
really hasn't done anything to interest me which is a shame, been a big doom fan for a long time and it's just not feelin' like doom to me

Personally I don't have a big problem with that fact as I also love games like painkiller. Mind you this is Doom, which didn't really trap you in rooms with big enemies. You usually could even just run away looking for more health or what not, and once you do trap doors open and 4 revenants, a billion imps, and like 16 specters flood out and proceed to turn you in doomguy pulp. In a nutshell.
it's just not feelin' like doom to me
I've seen this so many times and I still can't figure out what it means.
At least the arena fights actually have enemy variety in the sense that they're willing to mix various enemy types together, compared to something like Serious Sam which essentially throws hordes of weaker enemies with several of the same powerful enemy supplementing them for a clusterfuck. Plus the maps have nooks, crannies and secrets strewn about, so it's not simply Point A to Point B, no exploring, only combat.
I've seen this so many times and I still can't figure out what it means.
It means his rose tinted blinders are working perfectly.
Why is it that these previews + first looks and whatever always have shitty people playing? I mean that in the sense of skill
its to show off the game more, I think. a good player will just roll through it with little difficulty, while a bad player will struggle and have to take things slower/show off the animations of enemies and weapons more.
the triple chaingun shown in the first trailers, i thought it was a turret mode turns out you CAN move with it oh shit, they got the skull switches too

The stream did have pinkies showing up in hallways and hellknights showing up in smaller rooms so maybe the further you get the more common the harder enemies become not in the arena areas.
I prefer a mix of normal guns and futuristic guns. I don't need a future shotgun to wreck imps.
I really don't get the point of the glory kills, it just kinda brings the game to a halt and happens way too often I hope you can at least turn off that shiny effect on the enemies
I really don't get the point of the glory kills, it just kinda brings the game to a halt and happens way too often I hope you can at least turn off that shiny effect on the enemies
did you even watch? you can turn like every on-screen element on or off
did you even watch? you can turn like every on-screen element on or off
im deaf its right in the beggining damn
The glory kills are a fancy way of finishing off a near-dead foe, and having a chance of getting better rewards for it. Alternatively it buys you a moment of relief in an intense firefight since you're invulnerable during them. The chainsaw works similarly in that it can instantly Super Glory Kill any enemy, even larger ones, but it costs fuel to use it with larger demons costing more. Consequently it's pretty much an assured shower of ammunition to refill your other weapons in a pinch. It's their way of being able to make on-going firefights that you can still replenish health and supplies during, like getting rewarded for finishers in other games. Think of it like Devil May Cry or God of War, but as a first person shooter.
