Jon Stewart finally explained at length why he is leaving The Daily Show.
He started by showing clips of reaction to his announcement from the right — mostly Fox News Channel, where Megyn Kelly is seen talking about how “nasty” Stewart got, with “no foothold in the facts.”
He challenged FNC to a Lie Off. “Your distortions and lack of fact foothold against mine.”
He presented a clip he called 50 Fox News Channel distortions and lies in a 6-second Vine and invited viewers to go to his show’s web site to peruse more at their leisure.
Then he turned to Rush Limbaugh having said he, Stewart, has “poisoned the Republican brand.” “How you you poison a cyanide factory?” Stewart pondered.
“In their mind the opposite of bad isn’t good – the opposite of bad is conservative,” Stewart cautioned, telling viewers to stop pretending that any concessions to the right will sate the beast.

I'm just surprised he was able to put up with the Right's bullshit for such a long time without going insane.
i can't tell if this article is trying to be funny or what exactly
News update:
Republicans killed a man with words, another symptom of evil right wingers.

The right has been more radical than normal for the last few years or so, probably why it's only now getting to him.

It was a pretty interesting segment. He basically dropped all pretenses of politeness and called them liars and full of shit in the bluntest way possible.

the video is better than the article

I'm not sure if you understand that Congress and politics is decided by words. Those words end up doing things that in turn affect people with stuff.

By "bickering" he means they no longer hold the door open for each other.

no
our politicians issue non stop attack ads during campaign seasons that are ruthless and unrelated to the issues at hand generally speaking
Good riddance
Good riddance
It is important we have people like Jon Stewart in our political climate and news.

This shit is fucking infuriating. It feels like every commercial break has an attack ad.
Makes you not want to vote at all and instead cave their heads in with a pipe.
Still, I like to think our Conservative party isn't quite as bad as the Republican party, but they've set the bar quite low soooo....
I haven't been watching tv for the past decade or so so I didn't even know we had attack ads.
Here in Canada they like to joke during votes and we've got a giant golden mace to solve what words can't.

If you're gonna throw your vote away at least do me a solid and vote for the NDP.
My brother works for them as a researcher and social media handler so his job depends on it. :v:

By our standards, they're just as bad. The anti-democratic steps they've taken the last few years are genuinely unsettling.

Harper's been secretly undermining nationalized healthcare - he wants our system to become like the USA's. This is more important than you think, because in 10 to 20 years, the baby boomer generation is going to get old. With what he's doing now, the system is going to collapse under the strain - and that's exactly what he wants.
I don't like how radical, and ignorant conservative republicans are, because there are some legitimate things coming from a more conservative viewpoint that stand as more rational to me than the liberal viewpoint.
But if you even mention you stand on the more conservative side on some subject matter you are instantly painted as some crazy hardcore fanatic oppressor who loves religion and dogmatic moral ideals.
That's another thing, I just don't like how most politicians base their actions and beliefs on their personal morality rather than rational thought. This exists on the left and the right.
Politifact checked all fifty clips in the vine and verified they were indeed all lies.

I keep seeing people on the Internet complain that American politics are too divisive and nothing gets accomplished anymore, then in the same breath lament that either Republicans or Democrats are ruining everything.
You can't have it both ways, people. You can't complain that people subscribe to partisan rhetoric, then blame everything on the other group. You can't complain that there are too many attack ads and personal insults, then cheer on political comedians who make a living mocking the other side. I wish people would just own up to the fact that they happily participate in party politics, rather than demand civility and fairness without practicing what they preach.
This is not directed at any of you personally. It's just something I've observed a lot on this forum.

The republicans are the ones halting everything when it doesn't go their way, the democrats aren't saints either but hey.
Politicians making petty attack ads is wildly different from a TV host poking fun at them.

Yeah but it just seems like he's whining at this point
Yeah but it just seems like he's whining at this point
if he's on his way out, he won't feel like he's constrained by rules that restrict him from saying anything he wants
like what are they going to do, it's CC's most popular show and he's about to leave, he pretty much has freedom to do anything
Yeah but it just seems like he's whining at this point
He announced his retirement, the right makes a huge point to say he was a shit shoveler for his entire career
They could have just given him some professional courtesy and not proceeded to try and discredit him.
the people attacking him have no scruples, Limbaugh even said Michael j fox was faking Parkinson's at one point, he has nothing but hate and contempt for everyone

Where did I leave that list of burn treatment clinics...
