And... one more thing? • iPhone 5C confirmed, in green, yellow, blue, white and pink • 4-inch retina, 8MP camera, A6 processor • US 2-year contract price $99 16GB, $199 32GB • iPhone 5S confirmed in black, silver and gold • First ever 64-bit processor in a smartphone • Finger print 'touch ID' on home button
Looks nice in my opinion. The finger print reading is definitely a step forward.
I'm curious about the A7, can't wait for Anandtech to do an overview of it.
Hugely minor upgrades. Still the same size screen. I don't really see any stand out feature that makes this a worthwhile upgrade except for perhaps the fingerprint scanner, but besides that its just minor under the hood upgrades. The fingerprint tech looks nice, but its still something that has existed in various forms before (I had the Microsoft fingerprint scanner ages and ages ago); it'll suck when Apple has patented the shit out of yet another thing that has already existed for a long time.
64 Bit CPUs in phones might change things up a bit, though if we are getting to the point where they only need them due to RAM concerns, we might need to start looking at cutting down the OS a bit, even desktops only started shipping with 64 Bit fairly reccently.
Fingerprint sensor in the 5S's home button. Here's hoping more phone makers will make bitchin' fingerprint sensors for their phones.

Android devices with the equivalent specs of an iPod touch 2G could run a homescreen wallpaper perfectly well, yet the iPod touch 2G itself seems to have a framerate of about 10fps.

The S models are always a bit boring but it doesn't seem as bad as previous S models.
Wooh, iOS 7 released one day after GTA V is released. The A7 also includes a motion coprocessor which should register body movement for all these health tracking apps, also battery life increased like usual. Another thing about the 5S, slow motion recording! Up to 120 fps at 720p and iOS 7 will auto-adjust the ISO and lightning, they also removed the fucking annoying green-spot effect from the sensor. Release date: 20th september Prices for the 5S 16GB $199 32GB $299 64GB $399 ( all with a 2 year contract included) Edit: Woop got the prices wrong.
Some one make a touch screen that does fingerprint reading too.

Going from an iPhone 4 to a 5 was notably big, and going from an iPhone 4S to a 5S will be roughly the same. It is kinda like cars. Going from a 2013 model to a 2014 model won't do anything but ruin your finances with little improvement. But if you go from a model that is a few years old to the newest one (2010~ to 2014) there will be some actual differences that you can make to justify your purchase. Same with sports games and computers and a few other things. Also I may totally get a 5C assuming it isn't horribly gimped or anything.

Interesting implementation combining the sensor with the home button. I guess that would make sense, considering you'd be using the two right around the same time. Personally, I'm waiting for capacitive touch screens to become high-enough fidelity that the screen itself can sense your prints. Combine that with knowing the user's full set of prints and we may be able to assign different functions to what fingers touch the screen. Bringing right-click to a touch screen, anyone?

I want to see how the 5C is priced off contract.
Wooh, iOS 7 released one day after GTA V is released.
It will be a good next week for sure
It will be a good next week for sure
My birthday, GTA V, and iOS 7 all in one week all one day after the other. It's gonna be a good week.
It will be a good next week for sure
Like usual i will be waiting 1-2 months till they jailbreak it, but since its a new iOS its gonna take a lot longer.. Luckily i have a site where i can install certain Cydia apps without the need of jailbreaking. (Which i hope work with iOS 7)
Somehow, the fingerprint might sound gimmicky. Android had its facial recognition which not many people use. And I bet someone is going to post a video on youtube showing how they cracked the fingerprint scanner

This is it. A pretty uninspired upgrade (bar the security features). So I'm guessing that after this there will be another entire 12 months of no new phones? I really am struggling to see what Apple has to offer in 2013 if they cannot even up the ante on their phone line.

Very impressive in the inside. On the outside, not so much. Its still the same size and phone. If they would of just increased the width of the phone then it would of been impressive all around.

Whole new iPhones like the iPhone 6 should include bigger things like increased screen size and a new design. The 5C looks just like the iPhone 5 and so does the 5S, its still a '5'
Again, its just a 'small' upgrade to the 5, they have been doing small changes like these for the past 4 years.
So why not just introduce the iPhone 6?
Ok? So when is the 'big upgrade' coming?
the 6
Fingerprint sensor in the 5S's home button. Here's hoping more phone makers will make bitchin' fingerprint sensors for their phones.
They already have. Microsoft and Motorola have both done them. Motorola had a fingerprint scanner on their Atrix smartphone for ATT. [editline]10th September 2013[/editline] I'm really disappointed by the hardware. The A7 chip is only 1.7ghz dual core. Fucks sake we've had quad core phone processors for a year now and they've only given the phone a 400MHz boost over the iPhone 5's dual core 1.5GHz. IMO the 5s should be $100 and the 5c should be $50. This is NOT worth the premium price point of a state of the art phone.
I like the iPhone 5S but it's nothing big enough to make me switch from android. I feel like they're going both catch-up and innovation. I want to wait to see what they do with the 6. Apple has the advantage of managing both the cpu and the os. with android since google makes the os and then other companies are left to put the cpu in the phone. The only thing they can do is fit a faster cpu to make it faster. Even though its a dual core Apple can optimize the os to hell and back and it can be faster or on par with any other phone.
I don't know why people are talking that much about "small upgrades" when it comes to Apple. Considering their previous GPU, this will be a good deal faster than even the Adreno 330 in the Snapdragon 800 or the SGX544 MP3 used in the SGS4 Exynos. The CPU should be plenty fast, maybe not as fast as the 800, but it should definitely rival the SGS4. If anything I'd upgrade the camera to higher pixel and maybe up the resolution of the screen, but those two are really perfunctory changes.

Waving your penis over your quad core CPU doesn't help shit if the OS doesn't use it optimally.
