I'm making this thread because I'm procrastinating. I am also making it so anyone taking GCSEs and A-Levls, which start very soon, can discuss their exams. You can also post results here on results day. GCSEs (General certificate of secondary education) are exams which are taken by all 16 year olds in the UK. (Sometimes people take them early, and adults can also take them.) The A-Level (short for Advanced Level) is a General Certificate of Education set of exams taken in the United Kingdom. They are usually taken during the end of secondary school. My first exam is this Friday. English Language. I have a total of 21 exams and am starting to shit myself. Here is a list of GCSEs which can be taken:
Basically compulsory subjects English In many schools students also have to study English literature Mathematics Science (students can study Science in many different ways): One GCSE: Core Science (which includes parts of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) Two GCSEs: Core Science and Additional Science Three GCSEs: Separate Biology, Physics and Chemistry [change]Languages Modern Foreign Languages Arabic Bengali Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) Dutch French German Modern Greek Gujarati Modern Hebrew Hindi Indonesian Irish Italian Japanese Korean Maltese Persian Polish Portuguese Punjabi Russian Spanish Turkish Urdu Welsh Classical Languages Ancient Greek Biblical Hebrew Latin [change]Technology Design and Technology CAD / CAM Electronics Engineering and Manufacturing (Double Award) Food Technology Graphic Products Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Applied ICT (Double Award) Product Design Electronics with Resistant Materials Resistant Materials Resistant Materials Systems and Control Technology Textiles [change]Humanities Classical Civilisation Economics Buddhism Geography Geology History Modern World Economic and Social School's History Project Hinduism Humanities Islam Judaism Philosophy & Ethics Religious Studies Sikhism [change]People and society-related subjects Citizenship (PSE) Health and Social Care (Double Award) Home Economics: Child Development Home Economics: Food and Nutrition Law Psychology Social Science Sociology [change]Expressive arts Applied Art and Design (Double Award) Art and Design Fine Art Graphics Textiles Ceramics Dance Design Drama Expressive Arts Fashion Design Graphics Film studies Media studies Moving Arts Music Photography Sculpture [change]Others Additional Mathematics Applied Business (Double Award) Archaeology (may not currently be available as a separate GCSE [1] ) Astronomy Business Studies Business and Communication Systems General Studies Human Biology Human Physiology and Health Nautical Studies Outdoor Pursuits Physical Education (PE) Rural and Agricultural Science Sports Studies Food technology Statistics
List of A-Levels
A Accounting[1] Ancient History[2] Ancient History (Greece)[3] Anthropology (in development) [4] Applied Art and Design [1] Applied Business [1] Applied Information and Communication Technology (ICT) [1] Applied Performing Arts [1] Applied Science [1] Arabic[3] Arabic (First Language) [5] Arabic Literature[5] Afrikaans (First Language)[5] Archaeology[1] Art and Design (Unendorsed) [1] Art and Design (Critical and Contextual Studies) [1] Art and Design (Fine Art) [1] Art and Design (Textiles) [1] Art and Design (Graphic Design) [1] Art and Design (Photography) [1] Art and Design (Three-Dimensional Design) [1] Art History/History of Art [1] Astronomy [edit]B Bengali[1] Biblical Hebrew[2] Biology[1] Business Studies[1] [edit]C Chemistry[1] China Studies in Chinese China Studies in English Chinese[3] Chinese (First Language)[5] Chinese Language[5] Chinese Literature[5] Citizenship Studies[4] Classical Civilisation[1] Classical Greek[1] Classical Studies[5] Classics[6] Communication Studies[1] Communication and Culture [4] Computing/Computer Science[2] Critical Thinking[2] [edit]D Dance[1] Design and Technology - Why not make it a public examination thread? I've got A Levels.
Glad I don't live in the UK cause of these, but I will still have to take other bullshit tests that I'll probably finish i one third of the time they give us and sit there bored for a long while.
Why not make it a public examination thread? I've got A Levels.
Fixed.
Dammit why did you have to change it
I have 7 AS exams coming up. I'm feeling confident. GCSEs are so easy. I barely revised and walked away with mostly As and Bs.
I have a bunch of AS science modules and an A2 maths module, but no english modules since I'm dropping it after I get my coursework completely set. Woo!
Fixed.
Thanks. :) I've got a French oral this Friday, and I'm bricking it.
ITT: We are so screwed.
The key to passing is just doing tons of past papers. Can't answer a question? Read up about it and get your head round it. Here are some sites: A-Level: http://www.srepapmaxeeeerf.org/A%20Level/ GCSE: http://www.freexampaps.com/GCSE/ I'm doing Chemistry, Physics, Maths and IT
AS exams here I come. I've got a 2 hour general studies exam next week that not only do I not need to revise for but will be useless when I come to apply for university since everywhere I've looked at excludes it specifically. Anyone else taking this waste of time?
I have got Computing, Geography and Science In Society AS. The thing that feels different about A levels is for answers they want the exact right answer or nothing, especially for science in society they is so many answers that are right for some questions but the mark scheme only list's like 4 answers.
Don't forget Scotland. We've got Standard Grades (GCSE equivilent), Highers (A-levels) and Advanced Highers (A-Level/University First Year) for a while. I've got a Higher English on Wednesday. Fortunately I know exactly what I'm doing and have memorised all the poems and things. Not got another exam until Friday next week after that. Plenty of study leave makes me pleased.
Already took me German Oral and Art exam. Art is so bullshit, I just made abstract sculptures and a load of pseudo arty crap speak to go with it. I also got study leave soon, which is more like exam leave because I only get 1 1/2 days of study when I'm not in an exam.
I took several GCSE's early, Art, Geography, History, French and such. God collage is going to be a wreck.
Had my first few AS exams over the past few days, have 5 left. It's worrying I find it easier than GCSE. Aiming for As and Bs for all my AS subjects, which should leave me with good chances at university.
Have my ASes starting next week. Confident I'll get an A in maths, not so much in computing :(
Here is a list of GCSEs which can be taken:
Welsh is only listed there once but here I had to do both language and literature like you have to do with English.
GCSE's require no revision at all
Got 3 A2 exams and an AS exam (resit) coming up - economics, business studies and ICT
'Sup Got my German speaking on Thursday Done little to no revision Can pretty much recite my presentation from memory Although I got my english lit in 2 weeks time. That's gonna be a bitch
GCSE's require no revision at all
Not everyone is at the same academic level as you so shut up [editline]09:36PM[/editline]
Have my ASes starting next week. GCSE's were a colossal cakewalk. I did minimal (if any) revision for all subjects and got 2 B's 2 A's and 7 A*s. Doing Physics, Maths Mechanics, Chemistry and Music currently at AS, all with exams coming up. Already done a music performance exam which was pretty early with the rest later in May. Only really need the music though since I'm planning on going to a conservatoire.
'Sup Got my German speaking on Thursday Done little to no revision Can pretty much recite my presentation from memory Although I got my english lit in 2 weeks time.
GCSE's require no revision at all
Depends on the GCSEs and how good you are. I walked away with plenty of c's but I needed to revise for Media, Spanish and English. I didn't NEED to revise for media, but I wanted more than a C.
I want to take Bengali
Also I have lots of physical geography WJEC resources/powerpoints/case studies if needed on global warming, hydrology and plate tectonics
GCSE's require no revision at all
I agree except for Latin which was a bitch.
If you are doing OCR computing I have presentations that I can upload
WJEC
I'm taking GCSE retakes right now. Got Maths, Engrish, Science, Humanities exams coming up. Gona blaze them to shit.
I just finished Year 11 last friday. Still got some exams to go after that though.
I took my GCSE tests last year and got mostly B/ C, a AA from ICT 9fuck that course was ass), and a DD (:fappery:) from Travel and Tourism (my bunk subject mind you). They are fairly easy tests really, revise as you feel is necessary, a good chance you won't use most of it anyway.
I made a shitty banner in photoshop. Like it?
