Although I'm not new to the DIY portion of life, I am having some issues making a small (4"x4"x4") paper box with taped corners. I think this ones going to take a trip to the hardware store. Any pointers? Ill post pictures when progress has been made
,-[] [][][] ,-[] ,-[] Draw on paper; cut out; fold up; tape. Is this what you're trying to do? [editline]23rd April 2013[/editline] The tape will be for connecting enough paper together to make this to size.

You said "4x4x4", what measurement? Milometers? Miles? pls

I still seem to be having a bit of trouble with this project. I didnt have any scissors laying around so i tried cutting the paper with a propane light cutting torch, which didn't work for some reason, so i tried to cut it with the sawzall and put it in the vice, but that didnt work either, it kept flopping around! Why are you trying to cut paper with tools like that? Just use some scissors :pwn:
It's a troll thread

So much for people reading the "shitpost" label
I won't lie I found the "I can't do DIY" and then the pictures in a room full of tools and parts funny
I wouldn't give up just yet. That paper is still good. I see you possibly have some grade 8 bolts in those bins. Those should work to reassemble the paper. Also, I may spy some bondo on the shelf below the go-kart. This will work well to repair the burn marks and will smooth out the paper again. After that I'd get some white paint so it looks restored again (no one will be able to tell the difference. Once it's dry, put it back in the vice. The sawsall was the correct tool. The problem is, you were using a metal blade, or a fire and rescue blade. You need a fine material blade. Finish the cut with some sandpaper and you'll be all set again. The diagram on how to make a box posted here was terrible. I can easily understand why you wouldn't be able to follow it. There are too many lines, and it makes it hard to read, so I drew out a new diagram for you below: Let me know if you need any more help.
Alright! Now we are getting somewhere! i took the paper and bondo'd it up and sanded it down, of course the color was a bit off then, so i spraypainted it like requested, it wasnt drying very fast so i used the torch to heat it up, but then the paint bubbled, so i had to use some aircraft grade paint remover to take it off and repaint it, but after that, i put it in the vice and it was stiff as a board! Then i went and found a carbide blade for the sawzall and went to work I got what appears to be the shape that was in the diagrams Now what?
You know. With my body shop experience, I think you may have used too much bondo. I would normally recommend welding in some spot steel or pulling the dents manually. Before you can move on, I see some dents in the corners that will ruin the finished product. Hit it with some of that carb cleaner to soften the bondo, then pull the dents manually by running some nails into them and pulling on them with a slide hammer. I'm glad my diagram helped as well. You seem to have followed it exactly correct, and even paid attention to the foot notes, but on good conscience I can't let you continue without first pulling those dents. Remember preperation is 90% of the job!
Might want to use some three-way corner brackets like this to reinforce the paper frame.
are you going to insulate your box? it can improve its value greatly
How would i go about mounting those corner brackets on the paper, would hot glue work?, because i can go weld some up right now.

Hows this looking so far?

I know you're working with a very limited set of tools and knowledge, but maybe you should have paid someone to do this. I'm not trying to be mean. Just being real. Your corners are not 100% square and it throws the whole thing off. You know they sell kits to do this kind of thing right? Either way, practice makes perfect... and I'll be happy to judge the final product.
theres not even a finger hole 2/10
