The Pentagon is readying more intense and longer attacks on Syria than originally planned, set to last three days, the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday.
War planners now aim to unleash a heavy barrage of missile strikes to be followed swiftly by additional attacks on targets that may have been missed or remain standing after the initial launch, the Times cited officials as saying.
Two US officers told the newspaper that the White House has asked for an expanded target list to include "many more" than the initial list of around 50 targets.
The move is part of an effort to obtain additional firepower to damage Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's dispersed forces.
Pentagon planners are now considering using Air Force bombers, as well as five US missile destroyers currently patrolling the eastern Mediterranean Sea, to launch cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles from far out of range of Syrian air defenses, according to the report.
The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group with one cruiser and three destroyers positioned in the Read Sea can also fire cruise missiles at Syria.
This isn't going to end well.
3 days of raining missiles, the Syrian military definitely won't come out of that intact.
Am I the only one that finds the coverage of this absurd?
Hey, we're going to attack you, in this way, on this day, for this long. You have time to prepare and hide your shit
Let's just give everyone all the warning time they need

They already prepared. Moved barracks into residental and school areas, moved children onto military areas.
I seriously hope they know what they are doing. I just hope that the government has some classified reasoning behind these attacks beyond public knowledge.

We've done it before. It's probably done to give innocents the time they need to get to a safe location. If I'm wrong on that though, someone feel free to clarify.

Nobody has said anything about a date. Obama said that a strike could be in a week or in a month if the attack is approved by Congress.
Who is going to secure Assad's ( Leftover ) chemical weapons when his regime falls?
So, Mr "no boots on the ground" Obama, what happens if one of the fighter jets gets shot down over Syria and the pilot needs rescuing?
Yea I don't think we mention the targets either, just that we have 50 of them.
Obama better keep his daughters under close watch, if Iran follows through with their threat.
The fact that Obama and his administration have basically said "Ignore the American people, who the majority of don't want us to attack" Is awful. You're not the world police, America.

No one knows what targets they are besides that they're military assets, I doubt that Syria is going to hide all their shit for weeks or even months when they have a rebellion to deal with.
You can't exactly hide military infrastructure either or protect them from missile strikes.
Fight fire with fire.

K then, the rest of the world can just carry on breaking the Geneva Conventions, because we don't give a shit.
So, Mr "no boots on the ground" Obama, what happens if one of the fighter jets gets shot down over Syria and the pilot needs rescuing?
don't give them any ideas
So, Mr "no boots on the ground" Obama, what happens if one of the fighter jets gets shot down over Syria and the pilot needs rescuing?
He takes his boots off before ejecting so they crash and burn with the plane.

Congress resumes session tomorrow and the voting will begin
So, Mr "no boots on the ground" Obama, what happens if one of the fighter jets gets shot down over Syria and the pilot needs rescuing?
He'll handstand to the border.
So, Mr "no boots on the ground" Obama, what happens if one of the fighter jets gets shot down over Syria and the pilot needs rescuing?
If the plan involves aircraft at all, and won't simply be a Tomahawk strike from the sea, and the Syrians somehow have the military capability to shoot down a US plane, then a rescue will probably be done by either a special team (Operation Neptune Spear, Operation Eagle Claw, 1995 Mrkonjić Grad incident) or by an intelligence agency already in-country (Canadian Caper). There won't be a land invasion over a single pilot.

The problem is they want to do this regardless of who did the attack, I mean yeah they're convinced that the Syrian government did it but if they waited for the UN results then maybe people would actually see this as treaty enforcement and not the US acting stupid again.

just like cod 4
This isn't going to end well.
Does anyone know what 1 of those American cruise missiles cost?
The fact that Obama and his administration have basically said "Ignore the American people, who the majority of don't want us to attack" Is awful. You're not the world police, America.
Who is then? The world needs a police, otherwise shit like the Syrian chemical strike would only get worse
3 days.. of nuclear war yes.
Every new war is sold as a short war. But it always end up taking years instead.
Obama does not care about what we think anyway. He only follows the commands that his owners give him.
Ok i'm for an isolated strike but 3 fucking days??? Are we targeting each military man individually??
So obama is support people that kill teenagers, people, women, and have ties with Al'Qaeda?
that's awesome, I guess he's taking 'keep your enemies closer' quite literally
Does anyone know what 1 of those American cruise missiles cost?
Roughly $1,000,000 a piece.
