Hello guys.
I just watched the movie and I like it, so I'm gonna give you a small thread about the movie!

Well well!
Plot
The movie starts off with the man called John who is gathering a few close friends as he is leaving the town he was living and working in as a professor for 10 years.
They soon discover some interesting things like a painting that looks much like a Van Gogh but isn't known to any of them, a bow he uses for hunting, a handaxe.
His friends are a bunch of smart people, professors, students, a christian woman, a psychologist.
They wonder why he is leaving after 10 years and why he has such a fascinating collection of...relicts.
He finally decides to tell them.
[sp]He tells them that he is a chromagnon human. A man from the stone age, a man who never died, gets no scars, is in some way different to other humans and saw humanity getting what it is.[/sp]
This way, he is in no way allmighty or omniscent. He developed as everyone else did, has memories, lost most of them and still knows a lot.
The group descends into a discussion.
Of course, the first point is whether his story is true or not, only leaving the options of insanity or lies as the obvious answers.
But as he continues telling stories, anecdotes and clearing history up, they slowly start to believe him or at least they discuss the "what if" case.
The most important subject for western viewers of the movie might be the creation of Christianity and the story of Jesus.
Of course they have their doubts and agression and anger start to show, forcing him to reveal his story as a hoax, a lie.
However, the movie still goes on....
Why watch it?
The movie has no effects. The whole movie is a discussion between the friends and the speeches of John.
This might sound bland but the opposite is the case.
It leaves you space for imagination, thoughts and interpretation while not distracting you from the movie itself. Yes, it's a movie, but the hypothesis stays the same and that's what makes this movie so interesting as a guided way of exploring the wonderfull
"what if?"
Why not watch it.
Don't watch it when you are not interested in thinking when watching a movie.
Don't watch it when action and explosions, fast camera cuts or artistic ways of making a movie are what interests you.
Don't watch it when you have no clue about history and philosophy at all
Don't watch it when you insist on your point of view while not trying to understand other views as well.
Here is the wikipedia site:

Of course it has a plot summary way better than mine.
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/
Reveals that the movie is written by Jerome Bixby who wrote several Star Trek episodes.
Hope you like it!
The alien from mexico
The sheep from New Zealand.
I think the movie title is stupid. And I haven't even bothered reading the topic as to why it would be called something so stupid
pce out homie
Gtfo mai GeeDee
So it's a movie about people talking? I'd rather watch C-SPAN.

R.I.P. this thread
^^ lol rated hurr(y)
Looks alright. I like the concept of these 'explaining stuff' things, but probably won't see it just because of the sheer length.

Well. There goes my interest in this movie then...
Uzi-Face just made my morning.
Also I took the thread title literally at first like "HOLY SHIT! A man from Earth? That is so fucked up. Who in gods name would write a story about someone FROM Earth?"
oh so its a comedy
I thought the film was very interesting and the thought of something like that happening is really quite cool, it's certainly more memorable than many films I've watched and 99% of the film was in one room with no effects so who'd have thought it could be so interesting.
damn i was expecting a sequel of district 9
I'll see it if he says lulzy things like "Hitler was actually awesome and the holocaust never happened"
Does he say that?

Or seinfeld.
Or a tarantino film.
This is an awesome movie. Go watch it.

This.
This sounds interesting. I want to see it.
Saw this, great little sci-fi short story type film, although some of the actors are pretty bad and the editing isn't great. Good premise though, intellectual sci-fi, something that's in short supply these days.
Sounds low budget.
Do they even do it forrest gump like, and show visualizations of things?
If it's nothing but talking then fuck that shit.
No, there's no flashbacks, it's quite intellectual, go watch Transformers 2.
transformers 2 sucked.
I'd rather watch a talking movie that's actually interesting, like W, or 13 days.
Well it's hard sci-fi, so if you don't like that sort of stuff, this isn't for you.
scifi? where's the science?
Well it was written by a predominately sci-fi author...
Just because the author writes mostly scifi doesn't mean the movie is scifi, wheres the science?
He's several thousand years old and there's a discussion at the start (very scientific) about how he can live so long
oh, so it's not just "I can live forever because i can" there's an actual reason behind it.
Sounds ok.
Sounds interesting. but it doesnt seem worth paying the money to see it in film or buy a DVD just to see if they made it a good film even if its only in one room
