• Nokia goes back to basics: Announces phone with a battery that lasts one month, FM radio, flashlight
The first cellular telephone unveiled at this morning's event is the Nokia 105, which is about as simple as they come these days. Once it arrives on the market this quarter, you'll be able to grab one for €15 ($20) in either cyan or black. It contains such features as a flashlight and FM radio, and the noteworthy bullet point is its month-long battery life (standby time). The second half of the pair is the 301 (pictured above), which is a bit more fancy at €65 ($85). It will come with a 3.2MP camera with panorama mode, sequential shots and a clever little self-portrait mode that audibly prepares you for your next glamour selfie. nokia bulletproof vests
It's only back-to-basics if it's also indestructible.
If this also had a spotify app I would almost consider ditching my crap Optimus 2X for one.
A decent utility phone would be very useful for people with rough jobs if you think about it... I wouldn't want to take my iPhone into a construction site or something.
I wonder if it also plays MP3s, probably not.
this is great for developing countries with unstable power and stuff like that nokia is smart.

Make a "deluxe" model with an SD card slot and mp3 playback capability and I'd unironically buy this. It's not like I use my phone for anything else then phone stuff (alright, I do use the internet and play old GBA games on an emulator, but that's it), I don't even use my camera (it's ass anyway :v: )
I'm ditching my C1-01 and getting one of these babies ASAP.
Not one smartphone has appealed to me over the years but this phone I really want.
£13, you could buy a new one each time the battery runs out and it'll still be cheaper than most phones
This is a "real" cellphone in my opinion. I had a rudimentary nokia with similar functions and appearance a few years ago, and aside from fast Internet it had all I ever needed, not to mention great battery life.
You call that a phone? THIS IS A PHONE
I'm sold, the main reason I've never got a smartphone is the battery life problem - I do a lot of traveling and battery life is everything, had to use separate devices for wifi internet etc. due to massive power requirements. This is the sort of thing that appeals to me, phones for calls. Palm PDA for internet/mp3/general stuff. Also dual sim on the higher tier model, fucking double sold.
Only problem I have with it is the lack of mention of an SD card slot and MP3 playback on either model, can't live without my music. The Nokia 5200 remains the best phone I've ever had. This is basically this thing: For the new generation. But I bet it still won't be as hard to break.
If this also had a spotify app I would almost consider ditching my crap Optimus 2X for one.
I love my 2X. Get jellybean on it.
It's only back-to-basics if it's also indestructible.
Well if it's any indication, the finnish military is already talking about replacing Nokia 5200 with this new one as armour-piercing tip of tank shells and missiles.
Sounds like an excellent backpacking cellphone for long-distance hiking and camping excursions. I do wish they made something like this with a walkie-talkie feature though, something like that would be infinitely handy.
This could be a nice vacation phone when you go to destinations with high crime rates.
thats nice but i could never go back to a dumbphone. theyre just so inconvinient in retrospect
I'm going to buy the 301, no doubt about it.
i might consider it if you get what's app, spotify and some stable news apps on it.
Dat battery life, i'll definitely get one if it shows up here.
If this has MP3 support and an SD card I will buy the shit out of it.
thats nice but i could never go back to a dumbphone. theyre just so inconvinient in retrospect
I disagree, I had a smartphone that broke, got a dumbphone instead The first couple of days, I was bored out of my mind when traveling, but then it kind of fades, and now you just notice how everyone always have their face in their smartphone, everywhere
i might consider it if you get what's app, spotify and some stable news apps on it.
It has ovi store and S60, so it's probable it has WhatsApp. Not to sure about spotify, but in my C6-01 there's an Spotify app.
By the way, remember the Nokia N9 and how legendary that phone was? You can get a 64 gig one unlocked for less than 300$. Nokia has always had the best hardware, even though they made a mistake in abandoning Meego.

Still works.
and now you just notice how everyone always have their face in their smartphone, everywhere
People always act like this is a bad thing. I don't see what the big deal is, it's something do do. Like reading a newspaper.
