Looks like Siri is in trouble once again. The Los Angeles Times recently reported that Apple has hit yet another legal snag thanks to Siri, the voice-activated virtual personal assistant featured on the iPhone 4S. According to the Times, a Californian man named David Jones is the brave soul standing up to Apple in a U.S. District Court. His suit alleges the following: "Through its nationwide multimedia marketing campaign, Apple disseminates false and deceptive representations regarding the functionality of the Siri feature." Jones alleges that, while Apple's commercials show Siri quickly meeting users' requests, the app isn't actually that efficient at locating restaurants, learning guitar chords and completing other tasks seen in ads. Jones joins other unhappy iPhone 4S customers such as New Yorker Frank M. Fazio, who earlier in March filed suit against Apple for similar reasons. According to the Wall Street Journal Law Blog, Fazio is alleging that Apple's commercials share a "misleading and deceptive message" about what Siri can do. While Jones, Fazio, and others are so disappointed with Siri's real-world capabilities that they're willing to sue Apple over the issue, a recent survey conducted by market research and consulting company Parks Associates showed that more than 50 percent of iPhone 4S owners are "very satisfied" with Siri, while an additional 21 percent are "satisfied." Check out the video below (courtesy of our own Jason Gilbert) to see how Siri's real capabilities compare to those shown in a commercial for the iPhone 4S. Then, make sure to flip through the slideshow that follows to view some of the best submissions from a recent contest hosted by Shapeways, which asked participants to create renderings of what they imagine Siri might look like.
Apple is kinda misleading...
he's fucked
Well, I hope he wins. Apple deserve it, and being misleading is only part of the problem
snip LOL rate me dumbs i didnt see the other thread because people on fp don't post in threads with good news
hey faze, how come you haven't posted the news about apple and foxconn setting new standards for working & living conditions in foxconn factories? oh yeah, because even though you post basically every apple-related news thread in this forum, you only post the bad ones
Somebody beat me to it. And your post is stupid.
And finally people finally see Apple as what they really are. Also mom-corp from Futurama.
hey faze, how come you haven't posted the news about apple and foxconn setting new standards for working & living conditions in foxconn factories? oh yeah, because even though you post basically every apple-related news thread in this forum, you only post the bad ones
Honestly, improving a factory to BASIC STANDARDS after years of them being underpaid and mistreated shouldn't be something to celebrate.
Well, I hope he wins. Apple deserve it, and being misleading is only part of the problem
Doesn't it say 'some steps removed' at the bottom of the advert or something along those lines? They aren't exactly going to show an advert of the phone loading.
Honestly, improving a factory to BASIC STANDARDS after years of them being underpaid and mistreated shouldn't be something to celebrate.
Yeah, it's more along the lines of saying "finally."
Misleading? That's like, just about every single commercial on the air..
Misleading? That's like, just about every single commercial on the air..
No it's not. Blatantly misleading and selling something are two different things.
You still don't complain about Google & Android handsets also being made by Foxconn, you just single Apple out as their only customer which is false. Samsung, Sony, Motorola, Amazon and Intel all use Foxconn. Motorola is fucking owned by Google for fuck's sake.
Motorola is fucking owned by Google for fuck's sake.
Motorola Mobility is owned by Google, not Motorola. But still, he is right Faze, if you're gonna be a Foxconn hater you gotta hate everything who uses them :P
I hate misleading commercials. Like the McDonalds ones where it looks like people are actually enjoying the food.
Apple's marketers must believe that at this point, their consumers will eat up any kind of bullshit they throw at them. Whatever, they're just taking a page out of the book of every other major consumer goods company.
Motorola Mobility is owned by Google, not Motorola.
You knew exactly what I meant. Mobility use Foxconn. Why argue semantics?
You knew exactly what I meant. Mobility use Foxconn. Why argue semantics?
I didn't know what you meant either try posting more carefully
You knew exactly what I meant. Mobility use Foxconn. Why argue semantics?
Actually, I didn't know what exactly what you meant, I was simple helping you clarify your point better. I wasn't arguing shit.
Actually, I didn't know what exactly what you meant, I was simple helping you clarify your point better. I wasn't arguing shit.
yeah you did and now you're backpedaling. regardless, he's right, why hate apple exclusively?
yeah you did and now you're backpedaling. regardless, he's right, why hate apple exclusively?
Oh, i'm sorry I did not realize helping somebody better get their point through is backpacking. Next time I won't help. No need to be a jackass.
he isnt going to win
yeah you did and now you're backpedaling. regardless, he's right, why hate apple exclusively?
Sanius may be one of the less desirable people in this section* but you're assigning him too much blame. He's not the one who said it was only Moto Mobility that Google had, that was a different guy. [sub][sub][sub][sub]*Now normally I'd just say "one of the worse posters" but he's actually pretty decent in the Music section. Figure he deserves credit for that.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

i'm sorry, faze, i can't take any of your threads seriously considering you have an android avatar i mean i hate apple just as much as the next guy, but... i just get this feeling you spend all your days hunting for anti-apple news
Sanius may be one of the less desirable people in this section* but you're assigning him too much blame. He's not the one who said it was only Moto Mobility that Google had, that was a different guy.
Yeah, that was me, but I was in no way "backpedaling" I was simply supporting SCopE5000's post but a bit more clarity.
i'm sorry, faze, i can't take any of your threads seriously considering you have an android avatar i mean i hate apple just as much as the next guy, but... i just get this feeling you spend all your days hunting for anti-apple news
Maybe he had a bad experience with apples as a kid. Like a Isaac Newton moment, except the falling apple put him in a coma.

Disagree all you want.
You knew exactly what I meant. Mobility use Foxconn. Why argue semantics?
He wasn't? He was literally just pointing out it's only a small part of Motorola owned by Google, to avoid confusion.
yeah you did and now you're backpedaling. regardless, he's right, why hate apple exclusively?
What the fuck are you doing? He didn't even start or bring an argument forward. He had nothing to backpedal on. His post was literally "Yeah, you aren't quite right, here's the truth to avoid confusion. Oh and Faze stop being a cock". With the second post being "I posted the correction to stop others getting confused, I never said Faze wasn't being a cock". Seriously? Do you even read half the posts you reply to?

Back on topic, I like all the devices. I come across a lot of cunts IRL who really care so much about this shit that they post statuses about how shit macs are all day and preach to me the error of my ways (owning a MacBook Air and iPhone). I tend to just ignore that shit because they're embarrassing themselves by being such whiny fail-guys.
