Why do they highlight some of the worse things
"let's celebrate youtube by showing people how many stupid, useless, mind-rotting videos have been submitted"
Is that Sigur Ros?
Why do they highlight some of the worse things
It was just showing the videos/people they have made famous. Whether you like Bieber or Rebecca Black you can't deny that they are famous because of youtube.
7 long years of horrible updates after updates after updates.
and now i realize that through being supplied such entertainment for 7 years through a platform which is the first of its kind, we have all been, and still are, a part of history.

7 years of 98% shit content.
They show the piano chat improv guy even though they deleted his original video because he played Fireflies...
I can't believe they showed that Kony nonsense there too.
Lots of people here are such kill joys, here we are with a medium that (attempts) to take entertainment back from the big media companies and into the hands of everyday people and all you guys can say is 'ug some stuff is shit'. Just think, within 3 or 4 years if you wanted a job in media, it went from needing a job with a large company to uploading regular videos to youtube.
72 hours of video every minute, thats pretty cool
Why did Kony show up?
What is Numa Numa donig on here, that was Newgrounds
Their forgetting the great porn hack.
72 hours of video every minute, thats pretty cool
I sat here contemplating how the fuck their servers can handle that, as well as how it stores it, Its absolutely amazing that it can do that. As far as i'm concerned, youtube is great, it's completely changed how we share things as a species.
Back story?
Their forgetting the great porn hack.

Back story?
I think he means when 4chan uploaded a shit load of videos named "how to make a marble cake" or just "marble cake" that just had hardcore porn in it.
Only 7 years? Feels like much longer. 2005 isn't even that far away.
the first of its kind
Uh, not really, there have been other video hosting sites like Putfile and Google Video. Youtube was just the one that got popular.
I think he means when 4chan uploaded a shit load of videos named "how to make a marble cake" or just "marble cake" that just had hardcore porn in it.
I think he's talking about when someone uploaded porn onto the Sesame Street profile.
Awesome that they use Jónsi's music!
Anybody remember the trainwreck that was youtube live? UghghghghghughughughGHGHGHghgh
Back story?
A little kid was hailed king of 4chan and his account was closed for being too young, 4chan didn't like it and hacked it and most videos were changed to pornography.
Uh, not really, there have been other video hosting sites like Putfile and Google Video. Youtube was just the one that got popular.
the fact that youtube is MAGNITUDES larger than any other video hosting site is what i was implying when i said "first of its kind"
Uh, not really, there have been other video hosting sites like Putfile and Google Video. Youtube was just the one that got popular.
I remember when it was still sort of in competition with other video sites. I liked YouTube more than others simply because the player wouldn't rebuffer every time you changed the videos time.
They forgot to use Youtube's national anthem.
Why did Kony show up?
Regardless of the bullshit it was spouting it was still a pretty big achievement to spread a video so quickly.
I can't believe they showed that Kony nonsense there too.
It broke records on the site so they kind of had to
I liked YouTube more than others simply because the player wouldn't rebuffer every time you changed the videos time.
They do now though, at least for me. Since I have a slow internet speed and Youtube recently changed the way videos buffer, now videos only buffer to a certain point when paused, seems like a huge step backward to me.
