Trump and Hillary Clinton became all but certain on Tuesday after Mr. Trump’s decisive victory in Indiana. He would begin that matchup at a significant disadvantage. Yes, it’s still a long way until Election Day. And Mr. Trump has already upended the conventional wisdom many times. But this is when early horse-race polls start to give a rough sense of the November election, and Mr. Trump trails Mrs. Clinton by around 10 percentage points in early general election surveys, both nationally and in key battleground states. He even trails in some polls of several states where Mitt Romney won in 2012, like North Carolina, Arizona, Missouri and Utah. Could Mr. Trump overtake Mrs. Clinton? Sure. Mrs. Clinton is very unpopular herself. Her polling lead is a snapshot in time, before the barrage of attack ads that are sure to come her way. There have been 10-point shifts over the general election season before, even if it’s uncommon. But there isn’t much of a precedent for huge swings in races with candidates as well known as Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton. A majority of Americans may not like her, but they say they’re scared of him. To have a chance, he’ll need to change that.
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/hillary-clinton-swing-states-trump-222772?lo=ap_b1
Donald Trump all but claimed the GOP nomination Tuesday by routing Ted Cruz in Indiana. Hillary Clinton stumbled, failing once again to finish off Bernie Sanders' longshot Democratic primary challenge. But even in defeat, Clinton continues to execute a hard turn toward November -- and the coming war with Trump. Over the last two weeks, Clinton has been quietly accelerating her swing state operation, organizing what amounts to a shadow general election campaign at the same time she is fending off a rival who insists he'll continue to fight until the Democratic convention in July. In recent days, the Clinton campaign has finalized a series of senior hires around the country, expanded the size of her central swing-state planning team in New York, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been transferred to strategically important state parties from the Democratic National Committee. She’s also scheduled a series of public speeches and private meetings in states that will be crucial to her general election campaign. Many of the moves had been in the works since early spring, when campaign officials began the process of hiring swing state operatives and more closely coordinating with state parties — the building blocks of the fall campaign’s field organizing infrastructure. According to operatives and elected officials in eight battleground states, the switch flipped after Clinton’s 16-point win in New York last month — and Trump’s own romp there. In the days after that April 19 victory, some of Clinton’s state directors — who had previously operated only informally and without the campaign’s imprimatur — started meeting with local political leaders and planning the fall fight.
I think honestly trump will stump Clinton in the generals We've seen what trump did to his GOP opponents, and Clintons terrible history + email scandal is cannon fodder for him On top of that, a lot of people feel more and more disenfranchised by Clinton especially Bernie supporters who don't want her getting to the White House, and since many sanders supporters have thrown their weight behind trump if sanders can't secure a DNC nomination It's establishment vs anti establishment and voters seem ready to go. It'll be interesting
It's amazing that a large majority of your population want this guy in power. America kinda deserves Trump tbh, maybe once he fucks the country up a bit more, you guys will stop claiming you're the best country in the world.
It's amazing that a large majority of your population want this guy in power. America kinda deserves Trump tbh.
GIGO Well, partially. There's also the fact that we've got a two party system with loads of corruption doesn't help.
It's amazing that a large majority of your population want this guy in power. America kinda deserves Trump tbh.
when democracy fails for a long time people get angry and shit like this happens
GIGO.
Pretty much, you guys had an actual politician willing to do good for you country instead of pandering for big companies and making your economy worse than it is. Yet, the majority of the population want Hillary or Trump. I don't know if it's a lack of education in America or what but your entire election has been hilarious.
It's fascinating how many lefties will take trump over hillary. Personally I agree with the sentiment
The world is gonna burn no matter who you pick. Just choose the insane business guy instead of the usual crooked politician and lets see what happens. It's like buying a used car for $1000. It's used and has 500K on it but it might either last you for three years or it might die before it leaves the guy's driveway.
trump is going to wipe the floor with hillary while bill fucks melania
It's fascinating how many lefties will take trump over hillary. Personally I agree with the sentiment
Hilary isn't what the left wants, she's centre/centre right at best. All you'd get is Obamas 3rd term and that's about it Trump is actually, in about the centre. He's got liberal opinions and policies which is what annoys GOP. His history doesn't show him to be very conservative at all. If he was to get into power, I think his main focus would really be on the economy Also trump didn't support the Iraq war, Clinton did. This election seems pretty pivotal on candidates history with the Iraq war
when democracy fails for a long time people get angry and shit like this happens
i find it curious when people say this. it is always democracy failing. i wasn't aware that democracy did anything by itself.

It is okay to be proud of your country lmao.
so what would happen if trump got in ( besides his hatred to minorities assuming he goes after them and itès not just all for show to get racist votes ) what els would he would do
It's amazing that a large majority of your population want this guy in power. We'll still be the best country but we just won't be as great as we were before
I'm still amazed that the democrat voters just voluntarily threw the election. You could have voted for the guy that would have beaten Trump, but no, you pick the dirtiest person you could find.

While Bernie is populist, he is also low energy and his supporters are fickle.
Patriotism is what made the Cold War such a fuck fest. I just think it's a bit silly to have undivided love for a country just because you were born there.
Personally I think the US' current lack of patriotism is a major contributor to a lot of the social problems it's facing.

Hillary will be annihilated.
While Bernie is populist, he is also low energy and his supporters are fickle.
If Bernie supporters are fickle, what does that make Hillary supporters?
If Bernie supporters are fickle, what does that make Hillary supporters?
Buyers remorse victims. I understand why someone that votes Bernie/Hillary would say #nevertrump, because between Bernie and Hillary there is not too much of a difference. But when you say #neverhillary it shows a very contradictory position.

He's not even doing so in his own way, he's channeling what has been buried alive. He's unabashed, like a manifestation of our nation's collective conscious or something. Such a fitting candidate to crush a neoliberal hawk establishment candidate riding on her husband's name and the democrat's pocket demographics.

It'll be interesting
It doesn't seem to get talked about as much around here, but don't forget that there is a huge amount of hatred and disenfranchisement with Trump on the Republican side as well. In fact, more Republican voters dislike Trump than Democrat voters dislike Clinton (source, pages 41 and 45). Trump is also viewed as 'very unfavorable' by a majority of voters and performs terribly with a lot of demographics. It's going to be really interesting now that he's the nominee because there are plenty of GOP politicians who have said they will never back Trump, and there are reportedly at least a few who are considering actually endorsing Clinton over him. I just think the fracturing on the GOP side is underplayed in some of these online discussions and it's going to become clearer now as we get to the general.

What made Cold-War such a fuck fest was that they felt they were BETTER than the other country. While that is okay to think that (because honestly in some cases it is true), you don't wanna be threatening the other party. It is why I have HUGE respect for Russia, the Syrian Government(Assad), Poland, Ukraine, China, and the various other countries. We are going into the future, where global trade is massive. We can have Nationalism and still be friends with other countries. Unfortunately we are already in a Cold War 2.0, luckily it is not nearly as bad, just a few tense moments.

At this point, the more people and the establishment wail against Trump the more hilarious I find the prospect of him winning. I'm not sure if it's spite, a desire to clearly show people how bad things can get (so as to prompt the 2020 election), or just a morbid curiosity to see what Trump would do, but him making SJWs and the establishment foam at the mouth is just too funny, especially if he wins.
In other news I started following CNN Politics and I think I might have made a mistake
Can't help but feel that Nationalism + Russia + Ukraine != Friendship.
Oh yeah they are at tooth and nail, however I feel that there is a SPLIT nationalism in Ukraine, some in the Eastern Ukraine want to be a part of Russia, and some want to be a part of Ukraine, which is a civil war. Civil wars are never good Nationalism wise, in order for Nationalism to WORK, the entire country (or at least 95%+) have to be united.

Do whatever dividing you want, you will always get some asshole claiming an ancient sovereign right to the land. There is no right answer.

There is no right answer.
Ukraine and the former Soviet states are a bit of an exception considering they used to be under the Soviet Union, now that they are liberated many of those countries are fiercely nationalistic due to their recently gained independence. Meanwhile Russia is wanting a Soviet Union 2.0, and Russia is very nationalistic so it kinda conflicts there with that land. It is one of those places that you can't really fix at this point, let them have their blood.
