Final Video: -Begin Archive- Hello Speedrunners and Facepunch users alike! I know this trailer has been out for a month now, and I'm not even sure if this has been posted before; but I just can't express enough my hype for this! I'll shut-up and let the trailer do the talking! Post your guesses of what you think the clock will end at! To the Source Runs team, "Bon Voyage, and best of luck!" Enjoy, -Blue -End Archive-
Wait do they no longer have to bunny hop backwards? Also pretty hyped, I just started learning hl1 route
hl2 runs always amaze me every time I watch a new one
HL2 runs amaze me. Speedrunning in general too. I predict that since they made such a hype trailer, that they did it in < 40 minutes.
Wait do they no longer have to bunny hop backwards? Also pretty hyped, I just started learning hl1 route
There's a method of ABH (the bunnyhopping backwards that's extremely fast) that allows you to do it at an angle forwards. It isn't as fast but it's easier to see where you're going.
Wait do they no longer have to bunny hop backwards? Also pretty hyped, I just started learning hl1 route
If I read the docs right, I think they found some bugs on the pre-2007 orange box version that make the run way faster (meaning that they can go back to forward bunny hopping, ABH is only in Source 2007 and later).
a whole new meaning to "a great deal in a small timespan"
those voice lines at the beginning sound like something you'd hear from a shitty fan-made half-life 3 announcement trailer. but the clips of the run look very interesting, though
Fuck me this run is gonna be fast:
Christ, that's easily sub-50m.
if that's like 1550 seconds itd be 25 mins
Wow, impressive. My friend said 20 minutes, pretty close. Where did you find the graphic?
if that's like 1550 seconds itd be 25 mins
That's their current progress, they're not done yet.
The half life two run is starting to get to the point where it's hard to see what's going on without knowing the actual techniques. And that makes me very excited
Im gonna guess 23:58
24:11 [editline]19th January 2016[/editline] is my guess
24:24
13:37 or 22:10
45:00
We got a more precise ETA on when the video is being released?
We got a more precise ETA on when the video is being released?
Probably not, they wouldn't want to spoil the timestamp until they released the video I'm guessing above 30min and below 48min
Hey FP, glad to see you're hyped for the run just as much as we are. I thought I'd post a little more info regarding the run seeing as you're all scrambling to guess the end time. We are currently in the middle of the City 17 maps (namely c17_10a; the map before the Combine Nexus), and so far we have been able to save time compared to either one or both of the previous segmented runs on EVERY map so far. I don't believe this will be the case for every map in the game but it shouldn't cut down the entertainment value of the run. We hope to redo a few of the first maps (d1_trainstation01 to 05) as we found a more fast and consistent way to clip into props and perform the save/load buffering trick. We have a projected time, which means as of right now, if we don't save any more time on the run in comparison to DWaHMoV we will finish at 43:19. This is by no means the end time, we have a LOT more in store for this run and we hope you'll enjoy every second of it. If you want to track our progress, we have a timesheet on our Google Drive which you can check out here! You can also learn about Sourceruns and our previous runs at SourceRuns.org Thanks for the interest!

I wish ya'll luck! I'm sure it will be entertaining as always.
Would be more impressed if this was in one go. Something about splicing all the levels together doesn't sit right with me. Regardless it's so fun to see these.

Different people get talented at figuring out different sections so they work together to create one run.
Here's Half-Life in 20 minutes while we wait:
I think the first speed run I ever saw was a HL1 run on TechTV (before G4) it was on a segment where they normally just show game videos

Excuse the bump but I have some very good news for you all. We have just completed the last segment for this run, and as we speak one of our members is rendering the run ready for release. You can see the progress for both the render and the final segments on our public timesheet here! We have some even greater news but I don't think any of us are willing to disclose it as of right now, but if you stay up to date in speedrunning communities (r/speedrun, GamesDoneQuick, etc.) you should find out what we have planned pretty soon.
you didnt accidentally speedrun the wrong game did you because thats not good news SourceRuns
