The escalator did not stop until station staff switched it off. Authorities say they are investigating the incident, but also stressed the need for parental supervision. A woman died in July in Jingzhou when she fell through an escalator landing. [h=2]'Deeply regretful'[/h]The latest incident took place on Thursday morning at Chongqing's Hongqiaohegou metro station. Local rail authorities said that a woman had brought her four-year-old son and three-year-old daughter into the station, and left them unsupervised in the ticketing hall. The boy was playing with the handrail at a nearby escalator when he fell. His chest was wedged between the bottom of the handrail and the ground. Station staff shut down the moving escalator after 20 seconds, according to local reports. They extracted the boy who later died of his injuries in hospital.[/quote] escalators are scary in china holy fuck
Sucks, but this kind of stuff happens daily.
I saw CCTV footage a couple months ago out of China. Two kids playing unsupervised on an escalator and one of them tried to straddle and moving hand rail and he fell off and died when he hit the ground.
Escalators are fucking scary. When I was about 4-5 yo I was a curious little fuck with little intelligence (apparently) so I was intrigued by where the fuck the handrail was going, so I decided to stick my hand up the insertion, thankfully it didn't swallow it and I just got badly burned from the friction. To this day I have the scar in my hand to remind me how escalators secretly want to kill all humans.
Gotta blame China for their lack of safety standards to be honest. These kind of things shouldn't be happening otherwise.
turns out flimsy plastic isn't a good material to make escalators out of no but seriously that sucks. sounds gruesome and painful as fuck
