There's of course no information other than the fact that is apparently exists, which is still pretty mind-boggling. All right, Jim Henson Company. If you're going to do this, you gotta do it right. And that means including two things: 1) incorporating this amazing fan theory about Jareth, and 2) prominently including David Bowie' magical crotch bulge. These two things are necessary, and we will brook no discussion on the matter. Everything else you can figure out on your own.
http://io9.com/the-jim-henson-company-is-apparently-working-on-a-labyr-1644770305?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
The world needed more David Bowie.
Holy shit Dark Crystal yessss
Love Labyrinth more than anything, but let's face it - you can't capture that kind of old school charm and uniqueness any more. I am very happy with just having the original classic movies like these - Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Krull, The Princess Bride etc etc. A modern sequel will just be awful, I can feel it. Honestly, when was the last time a classic movie like one of these got a modern-made sequel, with or without original actors, that wasn't either depressingly average or just plain crap? Let them live on as untouched classics I think.
The world needed more David Bowie.
and his bulge as well
The world needed more David Bowie.
He's certainly an acquired taste.
Oh god dammit :v: I hate Labyrinth. I'd probably like it or whatever, but my family would put it on all the fucking time when I was a kid. They would watch it and rewatch it and rewatch it and then the TV would be taken up so there's jack and shit else to do. I burnt out on it then I saw it an additional 40 or 50 times and I haaaaate it David Bowie's crotch bulge haunts me to this day

The mystical secrets of the 80's are pretty much lost technology to the shallow cold Hollywood composter, so unless they have just the right directors and whatnot they'd be hard-pressed to recapture that ancient magick.
No, they aren't working on a labyrinth sequel. They've been talking about making a sequel to that for yeeeeaaars but it's yet to actually go anywhere beyond "maybe we should make a sequel someday". Variety just mentioned them as "working" on it because it's just been something they've wanted to do and now all these other sites are reporting it as them actually having started pre-production or something. Yeah there's no actual news here.
