• Urbex - Exploring a disused railway tunnel

I've done a tunnel before and posted it here but that was over a year ago and it was a different tunnel (not that they look different). I have since improved at photography and got a better camera and tripod so I think (hope) these photos are good. This is the thread I posted in April last year. So basically, this is a 1000 yard tunnel called the Euston Up Empty Carriage Line aka the Rat Hole. It's situated on the busy West Coast Main Line less than a mile from London Euston station. It was pretty difficult to get in - lots of crap dumped by the entrance and a few fences in the way. Then a 100ft ladder to go down in the pitch darkness with only a drip which fell every 10 seconds or so to give you an idea of how far you were from the bottom. It was pretty unpleasant. It was a great relief to get to the bottom and into the tunnel. All in all a great explore and well worth the trouble.

Find any ghost trains?
Did you hear any singing pipes?
Nice photos, good effort with them! Find any flaming hobos?
Someone could do some great Metro 2033 cosplay shots in there, if they were into that sort of thing.
What the fuck is that Ice in the third picture?
What the fuck is that Ice in the third picture?
i think it's pigeon shit
What the fuck is that Ice in the third picture?
It's not ice, they're stalactites.
It's not ice, they're stalactites.
Wow
These photos remind me of the music video for Firestarter, by The Prodigy...
Make sure you have bolts next time, you don't want to be stuck in an anomaly.
Oh look Metro Last Light concept art.
uh oh looks like we have a closet cosplayer i like the photos though, gotta get myself doin some urbex soon
Nope. I'm not sure if the proper term is cosplay. That seems to put images of anime into peoples heads. But you know.. dress up in some army stuff, put on a gas mask and take some photos. (secret - I dressed up as the tenth doctor to supervise a school formal - only a few of the students knew what my outfit was though. The others just said "nice shoes & coat Mr X". (no, it's not my name. I wish it was)).
scary
Aren't those stalagmites, not stalactites? Also, either way they're completely shattered.

Make sure to grab a handy weapon, don't want to get attacked by Radroaches or Ghouls.
So, did you find the upgraded MP5?

Would it be easy to get lost in there?
Would it be easy to get lost in there?
It's one tunnel. Unless you mix forwards and backwards I think you are fine.
Aren't those stalagmites, not stalactites? Also, either way they're completely shattered.
Rule of thumb, the ones hanging are stalactites as in hanging tits. Works for me. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline] And they take a looooong time to develop so this is abandoned for quite a time now. (lets see the massive stalactites in a million years)
I always wanted to do something like this.. Not alone of course. Edit: Also the stories i hear about the London Underground tunnels scare the shit out of me. There is a story about a mummy roaming the tunnels. And the fact there are shit loads of snakes down there and insane homeless drug addicts.
I <3 tunnels
must have been creepy as fuck
two hipster photos right there
Nice! Is the tunnel blocked off at both ends, or do they connect with the rest of the underground somehow?
