Over all, more than a third of American adults are obese. The latest figures are based on a telephone survey last year that asked adults their height and weight. For the first time, households with only cellphones were included. At least 30 percent of adults are obese in 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia. Mississippi had the highest rate at nearly 36 percent.
CDC press release
more cushy for the pushy
Sweet, my state isn't on there. I'd be doing my part to keep it off there, but I managed to injure my leg jogging the other day, might have to get surgery to fix it (if it turns out to be a hernia). Life's a bitch.
CDC released it? I didn't realize obesity was considered a real disease.
I love it how they're all in the South
I love it how they're all in the South
have you looked at a map lately
have you looked at a map lately
Well excuse me; most.
CDC released it? I didn't realize obesity was considered a real disease.
CDC does reports on general health too.
I love it how they're all in the South
Not a surprise...
How the hell is Wisconsin not on that list?
Americans, please stop eating to avoid fucking up Earth rotational axis.
Reppin the fattys of Indiana.
Woah, from the list it looks like being obese is directly related to being a redneck.
Shouldn't all the states be on here? America has a hard on for shitty food, if it's in America and it's not a vegetable, it'll probably kill you.
Surprised my state isn't on that list. There's nothing to do in NJ but sit on your ass and eat, really.
There are two reasons its higher in the south, one is because people in the south care more about their food tasting good rather than is it "healthier for me." I can tell you this from personally experience living here. The other reason lies with many states in the south being very poor, when people are in poverty people tend to eat unhealthy, because typically unhealthy food is all they can afford.
Shouldn't all the states be on here? America has a hard on for shitty food, if it's in America and it's not a vegetable, it'll probably kill you.
Not all states are equally as obese as others.
I'm surprised Pennsylvania isn't on there. Every other customer that walks into my Subway is fat as fucking hell
I love it how they're all in the South
Everything in the US is south of the people up in Maine.
Was in NJ on my way to NY as a tourist, there was a bit more to do than eat
Must have went through North Jersey. I'm in South Jersey. The best thing to do is either go an hour south to Cape May and the beaches there, or an hour north to Philly. In North Jersey there's plenty to do, like avoiding bears and batting away gangs from Newark :v: [editline]14th August 2012[/editline]
Everything in the US is south of the people up in Maine.
Except Alaska
I love it how they're all in the South
Its attributable to the select poverty in Southern States with people like immigrants having low paying jobs, so in turn all they can really afford is cheap high fat food which results in a fair number of them becoming obese, add that with general low income groups and the rest of the obese population in the Southern States. With all those added together you can easily see how most of the States that top the obesity charts will be Southern States. I honestly think a tax for Obesity would be a decent idea, along with some method of changing food prices so healthier foods and produce would be less expensive. If I'm wrong on any of my claims/assumptions I would appreciate anyone who would correct/modify said statements.
Not a surprise...
I got her cookbook as a wedding present, Its all butter.
Surprised my state isn't on that list. There's nothing to do in NJ but sit on your ass and eat, really.
Too many drug addicts here that don't put on any weight due to excessive heroin and cocaine use.
Not a surprise...
By the time she got the sugar on that thing I was just saying "Stop it! It's enough! It's fucking sweet already god fucking damnit" then she just kept fucking going.
paula deen is a terrible person
paula deen is a terrible person
I feel like I gained weight just watching it, eye calories.
paula deen hid the fact that she has type 2 diabetes because she didn't want to hurt her image
I'm surprised Pennsylvania isn't on there. Every other customer that walks into my Subway is fat as fucking hell
Meh. I work at a Sears, and most of our customers aren't to bad. I think that Subway gets the fat fucks because they advertise themselves as a place to lose weight.
How is Wisconsin, the Land of Beer and Cheese, not on this list? Not that I'm complaining.
If only we could make exercise an addiction.
