• Good camcorder with external mic?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good, high quality video camera for professional use which allows input of an external mic The budget is £400, but willing to stretch further if necessary - research around has been frustrating, especially since nearly all the ones I've looked at have no jacks for any kind of external recording equipment Any help/recommendations would be ~*~Fabulous~*~ :suicide:
Are you looking for a dslr type camera or a video camera? And just a 3.5mm mic input?
Well it will be used primarily for video - for recording jewellery demonstrations, actually - so it needs to have good quality and good focus. Will also be getting a clip on mic, so will need an easy way of jacking one into it, for the sake of clear audio
Well if you don't mind the ergonomics of a DSLR, the Sony a55 is a decent choice. It had autofocus dying video, swivel screen, and an EVF for private viewing, as well as an audio jack. It records in AVCHD 60i, which can be downsampled to 30p
Ah that's cool - thanks man! - I'll see if the others think it fits the role
I think what Trogdon recommended, the Sony a55, is a good camera for your purposes.
