Wii 2? Boring, give us a brand new console! Seriously if it doesn't have at least PS3/XBOX360 like graphics this console will be casual paradise then again only bbc calls it wii 2, kotaku says it'll have better graphics than current gen consoles and it'll be brand new and shit
It begins?
Actually more pleased to hear this because it may spark the next gen of consoles with any luck.

I could only think of "Wii twooo, Wiiii twoooooooooo!"
Wii 2 unboxing please like and don't forget to subscribe
"It will offer a new way of playing games within the home"
I hope this means it will have a traditional controller. Like this one Because, the last time there was a console without gimmicky motion controls was so long ago, that releasing a new one without them would count as "a new way of playing games".
"You can control the games using your mind!"
"we call it the PC, all wii players must now bow down to their PC overlords."
wiiii?
Stupid BBC, nowhere did Nintendo mention Wii at all in their announcement. As with every Nintendo console, it will be a new brand not an extension of the old one.

eh we'll see what e3 brings this year

theres a wee bit more wii in this wii
i wonder if the controller will look like a dildo
wiiii?
I'd prefer Wii Wii
It's been rumored that it will have better specs than the 360/PS3, and while just a rumor, it would make sense.
If the Wii2 can't handle better graphics than the PS3/360, releasing five years after, then there's nothing my wallet has to say to Nintendo.
I think they're calling it the "wii 2" in this article for the simple fact that most of their readers know what a Wii is, but not what "Nintendo" is.
Wii 2 seems to be a codename for it, like the original wii was codenamed "Revolution". I may just be forgetting quite a large chunk of the article, though.

Would be interesting to have it more powerful than PS3 with some real good "other PC" feature which would allow you to install ANY operating system and allow controlling it with the Wii controller. And then being able to run Windows 7 on it with Media Center Steam thingy once it's released :allears: Sadly that won't happen, especially not with Nintendo. Microsoft COULD pull it but since PC games are generally cheaper than console games it would be pretty much spitting on their own plate, which is also ESPECIALLY why it wouldn't fly with Nintendo. Maybe if they sold separate software that could be bound to the Wii which would also serve as a hardware key so it can't be ran on a normal computer. Would be great for users, not so great for the companies, sadly. Oh well, a man can dream

Please be VR.
It will almost definitely be some rudimentary upgrades to the basic Wii, probably include support for 3D and HD, and a few new features in the motion control. Its not going to be any kind of technological breakthrough or gaming powerhouse. The biggest thing will be that it probably has something like Kinect, where you don't need a controller of any kind, or they'll try and do something involving two controllers at a time instead of the thumbstick like they have now for your off-hand.
It would be cool if it ran Wii games in HD. Please? My TV is fucking terrible at upscaling SD pictures. :gbsmith:
