[sp]Shame that David Scully is part of the industry-wide strike at the moment and couldn't come back to voice act Johnson's lines.[/sp]
Eww eww eww eww eww. Why did they give him that gross looking Gundam suit from Halo Legends?
It just ain't Johnson without David Scully.
I'm confused.
He's dead.

It's just for skirmish/multiplayer. They had John Forge too and he died in the first Halo Wars.
I always thought both of these Halo Wars games were before the events of Halo 1.

What? It's an Orion suit lmao. Seeing as he was (I think) the very last member of the Orion Program it's kinda fitting to see him wear one around.

A what now? If I recall right SPARTAN-Is used special forces tier military equipment not powered exoskeletons. The MK1-3 Mjolnir armors had a very limited operational range.
That voice acting is god awful all around. Not just for Johnson.
I always thought both of these Halo Wars games were before the events of Halo 1.
Halo Wars 1 was set about 20 years before Halo 1 but after that the Spirit of Fire drifted with its crew in cryo for about 30 years and now Halo Wars 2 is set sometime after Halo 5
The Clutches of Anime Art style continue to strangle Halo's Art Style to death.

Still 1000*better than Halo 5
in a twist of fate (and poor records-keeping), the UNSC Marine Corps accidently assigned the life-challenged veteran to a position on board the long-lost Spirit of Fire. Even with the small handicap of being dead, Johnson isn’t one to disobey a direct order from his beloved Corps and he's sprung back to "life" ready to kick all butts that need kicking. The subsequent story of how he arrived at his new duty station is still classified, but trust us, it’s a good one.
I think they know that :v:
Wait, doesn't Damion Poitier voice Sgt. Johnson?
Wait, doesn't Damion Poitier voice Sgt. Johnson?
I believe he was part of the voice actor strike, thus we have someone else doing the voice acting. It's fairly decent, but it's just not Johnson.
I want a redub as soon as possible.
Like call the current one "Master Sargent Jahnsen" or something when the strike ends.

There was no power armor involved in the Orion program.

theyre equally bad. with an artstyle as definitive as halo anything that retcons or alters the design language just ruins the integrity of the whole. not that anyone developing these cares, or if they do, is allowed the creative room to do something cool with the franchise.
tbh if they wanted to introduce new styles to halo properly then 343 should've introduced a new species in a later time instead of continue pointlessly with the chief. it would be as simple as moving on in the timeline and exploring the universe more (which also serves as an excuse for new changes to familiar designs so long as they're not too far removed from their roots).
they could have explored an alliance with the covenant in the face of external threats arriving from another galaxy or tons of other cool stuff. basically literally anything but what they did. it's like star wars where they think the only thing that can work in universe is chief cortana halsey covenant forerunners wow i recognize that thing there.

...equally bad huh? You haven't actually taken a look at any of the unit designs for Halo Wars 2, have you? Look at the Scorpion:

The difference is night and day. The influence of 343's art direction on designs was minimal (Jeremy Cook, the art director is a 343i employee as well) outside of the Warthog and new units like the Mantis or the Condor. The Pelican no longer looks like a floating pile of shit and the Marines look like Marines, they even use the Reach AR.

Minus the "new species part", that's what the Banished are. A new faction with a new art direction that makes actual sense.
they could have explored an alliance with the covenant in the face of external threats arriving from another galaxy
Technically speaking, that's what Halo 3 was. The Flood came from outside the galaxy, and that was even before the Forerunner Trilogy.
or tons of other cool stuff. basically literally anything but what they did. it's like star wars where they think the only thing that can work in universe is chief cortana halsey covenant forerunners wow i recognize that thing there.
Again, Halo 3. Halo 3 rounds off the trilogy with the main characters floating towards what everyone assumed to be a Forerunner shield world. You can't leave that storyline hanging and it was specifically designed to be the hook for a Halo 4 before Bungie decided what they wanted to do with the franchise and that's what it became. After Halo 4 though, yeah, anything would have been better than Halo 5's story.
