I think the language is a bit strong, but the point is that while most of the western world thinks that 22-25 year old girls are the most desirable age range, the Kim dynasty is grotesque in their systematic abuse of girls specifically younger than that age range; that the Kims go out of their way to look for underaged girls.

For a really great, compelling story about the struggles of life in North Korea, I can't recommend [I]In Order to Live[/I] by Yeonmi Park enough.
We read about Holodomor, the Hungarian revolution, the Czech spring, and other instances of extreme brutality and cruelty at the hands of the Communists throughout the 20th century, but very rarely do we get to see history in person.
Yeonmi Park was born in North Korea, and suffered starvation, rape, and slavery in her attempt to escape from North Korea. She was sold to a pimp at the age of 13, and made a desperate attempt to escape across the frozen Gobi Desert at night to Mongolia. She narrowly escaped capture and repatriation by the Chinese government, which deports North Koreans back to be imprisoned. She nearly died several times, and finally made her way to freedom in (I think) 2008.
The most shocking part of it, to me, is that she is only 23 right now. I think many people on this forum are about this age, so imagine the differences between her and yourself; what were you doing in 2006, when Yeonmi Park and her mother were being raped by Chinese brokers? Can you imagine risking your life, walking across the frozen Yalu river, malnourished and desperate to find food? What were you doing in December 2003, when Yeonmi Park was left alone at home at the age of 10 for a month in the freezing winter, forced to forage for roots and bugs during the day in order to survive?

I for one blame the vagueness of the words "they" and "their".
