Three people have been killed and several are seriously injured after cars collided with spectators in two incidents at the Jim Clark Rally in the Scottish Borders, police have said.
The most serious incident took place at about 16:00 BST on Saturday when a car taking part in the motor racing event came off the road near Coldstream.
Two men and a woman died. Another man is in hospital in a critical condition.
A collision two hours earlier left five people injured, one of them seriously.
Organisers of the event - the only closed road rally on mainland UK - said they were "devastated" and were working with police to "establish the facts".
Police Scotland said the rally was cancelled with immediate effect after the second incident, and that investigations into both collisions were "ongoing".
Pleease don't result in Rally being banned in Great Britain... Rally is the most interesting, coolest motorsport there is.

Obviously, condolences to families of the dead and hope the wounded get better and come out as unharmed as possible. Thought that goes without saying, but just wanted to make sure I didn't give the impression that wroom-wroom-fast-cars are only thing that matters to me here.
Your Health and Safety nazis have got to be getting ready to launch a feeding frenzy after this. Do they have jurisdiction over motorsports?
I'd be surprised if this race ever happens again in the UK.

It will, usually when stuff like this happens it's found that the spectators were out of their zone. Health and Safety is just a scapegoat for businesses to refuse service and is vastly over-exaggerated. They literally have a whole panel that regularly debunks so called "Health and Safety" claims.
In a sporting event, health and safety is pretty much up to yourself
It would be like trying to sue a prostitute because she gave you herpes

More like sueing for getting hit by a foul ball at a baseball game
images have been released from the event, it looks like the spectators were not in the designated areas. They were all watching down road of a large (possibly blind) hill. the car seems to land at an angle and swerve straight into them.
Looks like a case of wrong place wrong time, thoughts go out to the families/victims.

Rally fans are renowned for getting too close to the track.
I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.
Group B getting eliminated because of these moronic spectators was already bad enough. Let's not get rid of one of the most entertaining motorsports just because MUH SAFETY
