The fire occurred at the Tokyo Medical University Hospital in Shinjuku Ward on April 15. The patient in her 30s was undergoing an operation that involved applying a laser to her cervix, the lower part of the uterus. ... "When the patient's intestinal gas leaked into the space of the operation (room), it ignited with the irradiation of the laser, and the burning spread, eventually reaching the surgical drape and causing the fire," the report said.
So that's how Katawa Shoujo started
That'd be pretty tough to explain to her when she woke up.
That'd be pretty tough to explain to her when she woke up.
"Wha- What happened, why am I in bandages" "You've suffered severe burns during surgery" "What? How?" "Your fart caused a fire, I'm sorry"
One of most random news i have ever read. Still suck for her tho
this sucks but i can't help laugh at the ridiculousness of it
I feel bad for her,but this is ridiculously funny
I hope she had a good sense of humour about it
Imagine them having to change medical procedures for laser surgeries like this in the future, where you have to contain any farts.

You'd think that they'd plan for this option. I mean, if you're operating around the pelvis, surely it's bound to happen?
I think that's another reason why you aren't supposed to eat and they give you laxatives before surgery
That's a blast from the past, much like that woman had a blast from her ass.
Anybody have the link to the thread where this happened originally, I remember it had something to do with planes. Ontopic: I thought laser operations take part in sealed of chambers to avoid interferences like this.

They just pop on a laser warning sign on the door, like we do for x-rays, and you grab protective glasses from the anaesthesia prep or scrub room.
I hope she doesn't raise too much of a stink about it.
