Just back from his part-time home in Mexico, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura dangled the idea Friday that he could run for the U.S. presidency in 2016.
Ventura eagerly volunteered the possibility while at Minnesota's Capitol — and pushed back against skepticism that he would re-enter the political fray after being out of office since 2003. It's hardly the first time the publicity savvy Ventura has broached the idea he would run for the White House or Senate, only to pass on a campaign.
He said the next race is "an opportune time" for an independent like him to run because there will be no incumbent. He said he's approached radio shock jock Howard Stern about being his running mate, and Stern expressed interest.
An email message seeking comment from Stern's agent was left Friday night by The Associated Press.
"The key to this next election I think will be a candidate who doesn't belong to a political party and who has the ability to rise above the mainstream and get the press, which I've never had a problem doing," Ventura said.
He said he would run on an anti-war platform, and his first act would be to close the military prison in Guantanamo Bay and return the naval base to Cuba.
(Sorry for the huge-ass pic)
Why would a conspiracy theorist want to be his own conspiracy.
I dunno. Ventura could be a good President with his policies, but I don't wanna hear about his batshit conspiracy theories.
If he could convince Stern to run with him we'd find out awful quick how much of a popularity contest elections have become.
I've been so disinterested the last few elections at the state/local level I've been writing in Barney Rubble.
He ain't got time to lead
hey bud, move out the way. I'm coming in for my bid
I was hoping for Ace Ventura.
But I'll settle for Jesse.

The best president there ever will be.

He is way too crazy for me to ever consider him. I watched his show occasionally on conspiracy theories and the stuff that comes out of his mouth isn't always thought through.
I know a lot of the stuff was just made to make the show look better, but he still promoted it.
No way in hell he has any chance of winning.

Well Ron Paul's run three times, they're both probably just doing it for attention grabs.
If Jesse Ventura runs for president, his running mate for vice president will be Alex Jones :v: . And their tagline for their campaign would be something like this: "Taking back America from the Illuminati!!"

I doubt anyone, even Ventura, would risk having Alex Jones as their VP, they'd be beaten to death within an hour of taking office by someone who's crazy enough to think Alex would be a good president.
And then Alex's first order of business would be to pardon them.

I know, I'd just think it would be hilarious if Ventura does plan on running for president. The only people who'd think it would be a good idea would be fellow conspiracy loons. It would be political suicide to have someone who's loony as Alex Jones as a running mate.

Remove the s in https.
I dunno if being a pet detective is really enough experience for presidency.
buncha slack-jawed faggots in Congress
he will make America a goddamned sexual tyrannosaurus
He's going to ban immigration of all yautja
I came in here hoping for the pet detective.
I'm sorely disappointed.
I would vote for Jesse Ventura so fast.
If Jesse Ventura wins the presidency in 2016, i will move to canada, no fucking joke.
He's got my vote.

mandatory gasmasks for all americans

A conspiracy theorist as a president would be hilarious. He finds out all this shit is true or fake but nobody believes him and thinks he's part of a conspiracy
I was hoping for Ace Ventura.

Still blows my mind he was Governor of my state.
I'd vote for him.
I actually ran into him one day while working security at Barnes and Noble. I didn't recognize him because from behind he looked like a bum, but once he turned around I was able to see the "Governor Jesse" stitched into his old as hell snowmobile jacket and the navy seal emblem on his cap.
Did you talk to him?
No. When I recognized who it was I was talking to a friend and we both ended up going "duhhhh" as he walked by.
