This is very shocking news for this area. The biggest crimes that go on here are thefts, and recently something that got stolen was a small Buddha. It's very unsettling to see this kind of thing happening here - it just doesn't normally. There's a lot of oil workers coming here for the construction of a new oil related project (I can't remember what exactly), and I get the feeling that crime is going to go up.

So it turns out that it wasn't a stabbing. Instead it sounds like it was a 4-on-1 beating of a relative of a friend. From what I've been told it looks like there's a very slim chance he's going to survive.
The police have been very quick to act on this and that's not surprising in the least.
