Dragon Quest VIII is one of my favourite games, I'm not very keen on jrpgs in that style but DQ series are an exception. I recommend checking them out, VIII and the DS remakes in particular.

I personally would also recommend 4, 5, and 6 if you don't mind SNES style art.

These are the ones that got DS remakes, actually :v: They are just prettier.
I liked V best of these three personally.
didn't expect a video on these games, i liked the older ones, couldnt get into the new ones.
Too bad the DS remakes have translations that make me want to break my DS in half
I'm all for a good pun but near every name (important NPCs, monsters, towns, etc.) is translated into a joke on something and every town has its own annoying brogue, it goes way the hell overboard and really dampens the whole experience in my opinion

Really? 8 was VERY good, haven't played any past that tho.
the snes rerelease of dq3 (only in japan) with the translation patch is amazing (except for a few errors in translation).
also everybody should play dq8.

Joker 2 is even worse. You should look into finding a copy of 8 somewhere, it's worth playing.

i have one, its just buried somewhere. ill try replaying it soon enough. i tried joker 2 to see if it was any better but it was just awful. the whole breeding system was pointless. seriously hoping the remakes of the gbc ones come to america.

Woah they have remakes of the 1st one and Tobi/Tara's journey? DWM 2 was a lot of fun, I'd love to see an updated version!

Never played any dragon quest games but it looks like the kinda game I'd enjoy. Might give it a go sometime.

This was one of my first DS games, and I was hooked on it. It also got me to play a bit of the Dragon Quest: Joker series too. I really wish I hadn't lost my cartridge for Rocket Slime, because I'd still be playing the shit out of it today.
