Simon Hughes was on a hunting trip with his father when they came across the massive reptile.
The boy grabbed his junior-sized .410-gauge shotgun and fired at the creature which was 20 times his size and is one of the biggest ever seen in Texas.
Afterwards Simon said: "I wasn't afraid for a second. Next year I'm going to kill me a bigger alligator."
He described how he shouted “holy moly” when he saw the size of the alligator and intends to bring the mounted head in to school for show-and-tell.
He said: “My friends were proud of me and I was proud of myself. It's humungous.”
The first grader was on a hunting trip with his rancher father Scott Hughes and a guide.
He learned to shoot guns at the age of four and also knows how to drive all-terrain vehicles.
His mother Toni Hughes said, "It sort of scares you to death because there are alligators, there are snakes, all sorts of things out there.
"What we thought was massive was a 10 foot alligator, and this one just dwarfs the 10 foot. It's just so massive and prehistoric looking."
The alligator’s head will be mounted and it will also be turned into book shelve holders.
Simon’s father had a permit to kill two of the 40 alligators on his 5,000-acre ranch near Houston.

Only in America :patriot:
good 400th post if you ask me
Damn. I thought this kid would be some sort of hardcore type what killed the gator with his bare hands.
Instead we get a pussy who shot it with a gun. Granted, he's only 5 but still... I was expecting something a little more... Well... Epic?
Looks like that boy killed a huge alligator.
Badass Child.
"He described how he shouted “holy moly” when he saw the size of the alligator"
Oh god, just picturing that in my head makes me lol
Shotgun beats alligator, so not much of an "ownage"
But still badass for a first grader.

He probably poked it with a stick when it died.
HOLY MOLY! capers
Fuck that shit...a one armed elderly man with downs syndrome and spina bifida could win a fight over a large animal using a gun.
So long giant alligator. So long.
Children these days..
I saw the thread on the front page and was like,
A five year old boy killed eight hundred people? :geno:
lol though
Who teaches a 4 year old to shoot and buys them a junior sized shotgun? Retarded rednecks.
I guess he
was quite the
crocodile hunter.
YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
What an awesome kid.

You should then argue with me, because his sentiments mirror my own, and I know I'm not stupid.
I acknowledge the rights of people and their children, but if you literally arm your 5 year old child so you can have a hunting buddy, then you are probably NOT participating in rational thought. I don't care where you come from. If you believe pumping lead into another living thing is a wholesome family activity, you are probably not intelligent, nor fit for parenthood.

Kind of the same thing with learning a language, kids that young are more open to learning and will pay more attention to it than a 15 year old. Oh by the way, someone teaching a kid to use a gun doesn't make them a redneck, thats just ignorant and stupid to say.

In this case it sounds like that was self defense, nor am I saying that hunting is a "wholesome family activity". (Nor was this part of my original argument, arming the child is my argument) However, by age 7 I had my own bolt action .22 rifle that I used to target shoot with. Have I ever had a firearm related accident? No, because my father taught me early on how to operate a firearm and use it safely. By age 10 when my dad and I would go hiking on our property (~100 acres) I was armed with an M1 carbine incase of a hungry mountain lion or desperate bear.

Well that's true...it's the same as religion, get 'em while their young. Labels are meaningless to me, so I have no use in assuming them to be rednecks. I'm also bias in that I've never been hunting, and I've never really wanted to.
But I cannot stress enough that it is simply a step in the wrong direction to fill your childs growing brain with "Kill shit, son! It will make your old man proud!".
Holy Moly Batman! It's an Alligator!
Also I was expecting it to be with bare hands, I had the awesome image in my head and everything
410-gauge shotgun
Wow.
You would think with an alligator that size you'd need something bigger to take it out, I guess not.
