The Marshall Islands, the Pacific chain where the U.S. carried out dozens of nuclear tests in the late 1940s and 1950s, has filed suit in the Hague against Washington and the governments of eight other countries it says have not lived up to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
In court documents, the Marshall Islands argues that the 1958 NPT, which did not come into force until 1970, amounts to a compact between nuclear haves and have-nots. Non-weapons states essentially agreed not to try to acquire nuclear weapons in exchange for weapons states moving toward disarmament, the Marshalls says.
The suit is not seeking compensation but asks the court to require the nine nuclear states to meet their obligations.

i don't think these people have read up on MAD or history in the last 60 years, particularly recent news with russia backing out of their commitments to disarm.
I'm sure this will inspire all of the nuclear armed states to disarm ASAP.

It'll do a hell of a lot more than what you're doing(or rather what you're not doing) to convince them to.
The issue with nuclear weapons is that you CAN'T uninvent them. They're there now. They've been there for the better part of a century. Any idiot anywhere can build a simple one to be quite honest. If everyone sane and sensible disarms all of their nuclear weapons there isn't a single fucking thing stopping some whack-job like our chubby ol' friend Kim from building his own and then holding the world to ransom with the damn things.
MAD only works when more than one person owns nukes.

Well, if it doesn't work then it actually won't :v:

that and its probably better not to remove all the nukes
why?
some fuck is not going to decompile their nukes or another will just make their own
not only that but disposing of ALL of the materials, ESPECIALLY away from the wrong hands
its probably better to continue flaunting them like "Yeah well I have nukes too!!!!" so no one screws with nobody

Uhm, sorry but putting energy into a system and finding no product output is not more worthwhile than not putting energy into the same system knowing there is no product output.

Why not give everyone equal amount of nukes then? :v:
Why not give everyone equal amount of nukes then? :v:
because 7 billion nukes is not a very good idea
why would they care if they are probably not even a target for a nuclear strike.
why would they care if they are probably not even a target for a nuclear strike.
A nuke exchange would fuck up more places then where it hits
Also not having nuke exchanges seems like a good idea
I suddenly want to release a steamy shit on the government's chest where nukes are made/stored worldwide, piss a little, and mix counter-clockwise with my thumb. That'll be the real nuker.
