It's hard to overstate Ornette's influence on jazz music and the larger musical landscape. Please keep him and his family and music in mind when you're out chillin' and enjoying some food, because there would be no free Jazz without him.

Even though I don't personally enjoy free jazz (in general, at least), I can't deny Coleman's legacy or influence in jazz music.
Rest in peace, Ornette Coleman.
