Fuckin wrecked. Roll Tears!
That's a hell of a way to lose.
It was Alabama's fault either way - If they would have just taken a knee, they would have gone to overtime and have a better game there. But instead, they get greedy and kick a 56 yard field goal with a Second-string Freshman kicker.
I have no idea what I just watched [editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
It was Alabama's fault either way - If they would have just taken a knee, they would have gone to overtime and have a better game there.
I have no idea what I just watched [editline]1st December 2013[/editline] Or what this post means
Basically some guy got greedy and kicked from a long distance, letting the other team get the ball and score I know nothing of American Football but that was hardly difficult to understand
I have no idea what I just watched [editline]1st December 2013[/editline] Or what this post means
Game is a tie, about to go into overtime, Alabama decides to get 3 points by kicking a field goal from 56 yards away which is way too far away even for pro kickers. For their hubris, they are punished when an Auburn player catches the ball and runs it to the other endzone to win the game.
How embarrassing

If they had made the field goal, they would have won, and the odds of the kick being returnable and then actually getting returned for a touchdown are very low.
57 yards isn't exactly unheard of.
I don't know what you're talking about. It's pretty hard in the pros and near impossible in college ball.
57 yards isn't exactly unheard of. If they had made the field goal, they would have won, and the odds of the kick being returnable and then actually getting returned for a touchdown are very low.
Generally the reason field goals aren't returnable is because they have the distance and go wide, or are barely short. Both of those result in the ball landing out of bounds past the endzone. This is just begging to put someone deep because he will be able to catch it the vast majority of the time. The only thing that is unlikely is his ability to run 80+ yards to return it. Even with how unlikely that is, it's a considerable risk when you could just take the game into overtime, and in theory win the game because you are supposed to be the better team.
I have no idea how the game works but all I can say is that his teammates did some nice blocks
I have no idea how the game works but all I can say is that his teammates did some nice blocks
Even if you don't know about football, you have a really really good point there. A lot of people would give the one player all the credit, but he could only get that touchdown because his teammates did a great job blocking tackles.
University/college sports is huge there, it's more casual in the UK
It was Alabama's fault either way - If they would have just taken a knee, they would have gone to overtime and have a better game there. Pretty much 2/3 of the stadium ran into the field celebrating, security was having a panic attack. It was awesome

Having a relatives and a sister attending Auburn and me hoping to attend Auburn I can say this has to be one of the BEST Iron Bowls ever played in the series. To get an idea how good this was last year in 2012 Auburn was 3-9 in the season, only winning against non-conference division 2 teams, now they're on their way to the SEC championship.WDE.
This has only happened in the NFL once to my knowledge
This has only happened in the NFL once to my knowledge
It's happened a few times in the NFL, but in the NCAA, this has only been done 4 times. Tonight by Auburn and earlier in the season LSU did it against Auburn.
Living in Alabama and hating football, thinking that Facepunch would be my one escape from hearing about this shit...I was mistaken
Living in Alabama and hating football, thinking that Facepunch would be my one escape from hearing about this shit...I was mistaken
Hating football in Alabama is like...uhm hating tea in Britain.
Hating football in Alabama is like...uhm hating tea in Britain.
Oh trust me, I know.
Oh trust me, I know.
You don't HAVE to like it, all you need to do is choose between Auburn and Alabama or if you're weird Tennessee.

Make sure it doesn't have any rivalries with the local one(s). Nobody will care.

they missed like 4 field goals in that game wtf was saban thinking. eh oh well i hate bama anyway glad to see them lose
At my job my co workers and I all work around a Tv and we were watching this as we were working. We put everything down and just lost our shit when we saw this happen live. One of my co-workers used to go to school with the kicker at Auburn and he was losing his mind when this happened. You don't have to like football to appreciate that kind of play.
This is one of the wildest games in football history. Absolutely nuts.

So if I got that right, the wabberwockle kicked the zoomballoon approximately 57 Highway points from the sun pole. And by doing that, the enemy team could take advantage over their Hexagon newspaper formation to fully utilize their coffee break. And thus scoring touchdown.
